Do you guys know anyone that would weld up the barrel feet of a 9mm 1911 and recut and fit them to my slide? I have a custom 1911 that was fitted with two barrels, one of which is a nice Barsto barrel, but the smith removed too much off the barrel feet and/or barrel hood so that it has too loose a fit for good precision.

I asked the only 1911 smith I trust, Frank Glenn, and he respectfully wasn't willing to take on that job. For me, Nelson Ford and Chuck Rogers are out of the question. Thanks.

Seems like you would have better luck with a new barrel and I doubt you could get your current barrel done cheaper

The reason why I want to stick to this barrel is because I have a ported slide and two barrels. The one that's fit well is a solid barrel, whereas the barrel in question is a specially ported barrel that perfectly matches the slide ports. I want to salvage this barrel to shoot the gun ported from time to time. I can still shoot it unported just fine. So I'm not looking to get a new barrel.

to my non expert opinion, i would think the welding part is the easiest and the fitting the hardest. Could you split the job into 2 vendors?

That's a good question. Hmmm, I was thinking it would be the other way around (also a non-expert opinion).
