It really was. Backdrops 300 degrees around. Beautiful AZ desert rock and Saguaros. My Son and I camped out overnight often. When we first started shooting out there, there were remnants of a steel hopper from the original mining operation. At a point tweekers looking for scrap started going out there with a cutting torch and taking anything they could salvage. One time I brought a cold rolled steel plate out there measured 1" thick x 36" x 48". Took 4 of us to slide it out of my truck bed. We stood it up against that embankment about 200 yds from the firing line. It had a real nice thump when you nailed it. Sure enough less than a year later went out there and it was gone. No way could they have lifted it whole. Had to be tweekers with a cutting torch again.

LAMO I saw them out there busting up concrete on the scale to get the metal I beam out of it. They could have just went to work anywhere and made twice as much.

Great pics! I remember the DMG but was just getting into machine guns back then & never got in on the action. I loved the focus on fun and not taking everything so seriously.

Can't remember who it was but I followed someone into SAR many years ago who had a DMG license plate on their truck & talked for a bit on the way in.

Good times.

Even got the PCSO that came out to see what was going on in on the act.
Poor guy topped that little hill, stopped and had a look on his face like what the hell did I drive into.
Talked him into coming on down where the DMGs turned him to the dark side.
That look on his face…

Figures, it was a nice safe place to shoot. Can't have that can we.

I'll have to cruise out there when things cool down a bit and check it out.

Isn't that federal mining land?

It was good till the guy leasing it had his cattle start getting shot and of course other irresponsible acts by the usual shitbirds.
Just like every other shut down area, due to f***ing morons and assholes, we even did cleanups ups there to try and appease the powers that be.
One of the best places we ever had, extremely safe due to the terrain, and easily accessible.

I’m more of an honorary DMG thanks to DMG_NUT, but I wore my DMG shirt yesterday and it made me smile. :)

MANY, MANY, MANY pounds of tannerite and thousands of rounds of ammo were converted to fun out there.

Early picture of my buddies trailer that we built for it there..
