I guess I'm not cool because these are dudes that are doing what every other productive member of society does - using their talents to earn a living. And guys like me that appreciate athletic pursuits and talent (played in my youth but not good enough to earn scholarships or a living from it) like to occasionally sit in front of the tube and be entertained by these people. I believe it all stems down to jealousy. Because if these grouchy gun guys that like to call athletes "thugs" and "undereducated" (and making blanket statements that they'd be flipping burgers if they weren't pro athletes) could hit a 80mph curveball 400+ feet or throw a football between 2 defenders to a sprinting receiver 50 yards downfield while a couple of 300lb hulks were bearing down on them - and get paid multiple millions of dollars annually for it, while being adored by thousands - you'd better believe they'd do it too.
That said, the Raptors will make a valiant effort, but just don't have the firepower to topple the Warriors. No way they can sustain what they did in Game 1 with unlikely heroes like Siakam last night. What do you think?
Jealousy? LOL I played and lettered in sports in High School but then I went on with my life.Jack Dupp said:Smithers599, the vast majority of cool kids on the gun forums love to point out their disdain and apathy for sports and professional athletes. As to thugs and uneducated look at the majority of pro-athletes and that is exactly what they are. And unlike in the past the majority are no longer interested in acting as positive role models.
Their insane salaries have turned what used to be a fun spur of the moment family day at the ball park into an expensive trip that requires lots of prior planning.
"Heros"???? That comment tells me how low your standards are. No ball player comes even remotely close to being a "hero" unless they are resuceing someone from a fire.
When I was playing sports (early 70's) I NEVER heard anyone on the team referred to as a "hero". Nor do I remember hearing it used to describe professional athletes.Jack Dupp said:Steve, while you were supposedly lettering in high school, you should have worked harder in your English/Reading classes. Anyone that played sports knows that 'hero' has always been used to describe the player that came through in the clutch and was the main catalyst for his team winning. It doesn't always have to be used to describe someone that rescues other people or risks his/her own life for someone else. You and RJ are so narrow-minded. But I'm sure you could care less.

It just shows how watered down the word has become in today's society.
But hey feel free to keep worshiping those "take a knee" scum all you want.
Good point. Is Durant not going to be able to come back?r0ttie1 said:Jack Dupp said:Smithers599, the vast majority of cool kids on the gun forums love to point out their disdain and apathy for sports and professional athletes. Without Durant, I have my concerns. Bucks were prognosticated to take it all and what happened to them?
