I cannot confirm these photos are legitimate. However, they purport to show U.S. operators in Ukraine. The flags and insignia are meant to directly imply that these are Seals. Again, there is no way to verify these photos. However, you can spy in them that they have U.S.-made SIG Virtus rifles with Surefire suppressors and Lancer L5 magazines. I'm not aware that Ukraine ever bought those in any quantity. And while it is impossible to determine if these photos were even taken in country, the gear would indeed seem to indicate Americans.

The Ukrainians learned how to do propaganda from their invaders, so there is bullschit going on from both sides. But some of it is entertaining.

Take Anastasiia Lenna, for example. She's a former Miss Ukraine. But news reports show that she has "apparently traded in her high heels for combat boots, joining the Ukrainian military in its push against the Russian invasion. Anastasia Lenna, Ukraine’s 2015 representative in the Miss International beauty contest, has answered the call to defend her home.

“Everyone who crosses the Ukrainian border with the intent to invade will be killed!” said her post made in English on Saturday, accompanied by a photo of armed soldiers blocking a roadway.

Another post said that “Our Ukraine army is fighting in such a way that NATO should apply for entry into Ukraine.” She also shared a photo to her 75,000 followers showing soldiers walking with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom she called a “a true and strong leader.”



Never mind that it looks like she posed with an airsoft sometime before the actual invasion.

I have witnessed Ukraine transform from a collapsing part of the Soviet Union to a liberal democracy and an open society. It has faced countless acts of Russian aggression, but has persisted. Brave Ukrainians are now on the frontline and risking their lives in an onslaught that reminds me of the siege of Budapest in 1944 and the siege of Sarajevo in 1993. It is important that both the transatlantic alliance (the United States, Canada, the European Union, and the United Kingdom) but also other nations do whatever is in their power to support Ukraine in its time of existential threat. Putin’s actions are a direct attack on the sovereignty of all States that were once in the Soviet Union, and beyond. Russia is in clear violation of the United Nations charter and should be held accountable. Allowing Putin to succeed on his quest will send a message across the world that nations can simply be created or dissolved by brute force. We must stand with Ukraine, as they stand for us.
