In June 2022, Headquarters, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, rotated in to the U.S. Army V Corps' mission to reinforce NATO’s eastern flank and engage in multinational exercises with partners across the European continent in order to reassure allies and deter further Russian aggression during its invasion of Ukraine. The 101st Soldiers deploying in June did not represent additional U.S. forces in Europe, but are taking the place of Soldiers assigned to 82nd Airborne Division Headquarters and the 3rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team of the 82nd Airborne Division.[135]

This does not represent an increase in US troop strength in the area since the HQ and a brigade of the 101st Airborne is rotating in to replace the HQ and a brigade of the 82nd Airborne.

As I mentioned months ago,...the world was willing to let Russia invade and seize territory up to the Dnieper River and not do anything about it in order to prevent getting into a war with Russia. But when Putin decided he was going to try to take the whole enchilada, that's when the world decided to oppose him and risk war. Now victory is forever barred from Russia and impossible. By withdrawing from Kherson, Russia will now be where the world was prepared to let him be. I think Putin is hoping the west will now let him keep it and back off. But the west is no longer afraid of Russia after observing how horrible they are at actually fighting. And the Ukrainians are more pissed off and angry and thirsty for revenge than they are tired, so they are uninterested in talks. Russia's only real way out is to assassinate Putin and blame it all on him.

So much has been going on since the war began that regularly scheduled processes have been put on hold, like SOF qualifications. But with a new phase about to open in the spring, and with great need to replenish the ranks, the opportunity to begin new traditions in the Ukrainian SOF has been embraced, with a great deal of influence from NATO advisors (perhaps from San Diego?).

The rules are few. Anyone in uniform can try out. Because time in not on anyone's side, pace is unrelenting. Dropping out is encouraged. There is plenty of war to be fought elsewhere. But the graduates/survivors of this 1st wartime SOF Q-course will need to be the best of the best so they can do the worst of the worst.

Not many volunteers to the International Legion have been interviewed at length on camera, so this is unique in that respect alone. Those who went to have war stories to tell - the talkers - ended up leaving pretty quickly. The non-talkers; the doers, the ones who were there to just buckle down and get it done;...well, they aren't typically spending time bragging.

The whole interview might be of interest to you, but I set the video to start just before the chap tells about how the new arrivals are bombed out of their bunks only a few nights in, and rumor is that Russian paratroopers are on the ground in the area, and they haven't even been issued any weapons yet.

Obviously there is going to be some bleeding of weapons from any theatre, but if we had a dollar for every unsubstantiated claim of this with no evidence whatsoever, we could fund the Red Cross rather well.

Just remember every time you hear this claim;...no picture evidence ever accompanies the statements. Because that's all they are.
