Those evil lever action rifles in 357Mag, 44mag and 45 Colt are out of luck as well. The High Point carbines in 380, 9, 40, 45, 10mm? Heck .22LR is a pistol caliber so is it gone?

I am NOT a retail sales expert but .. I know that the actual sale of ammunition is probably a minuscule percentage of their overall sales especially in their giant super stores

But
I normally shop for any clothing and electronic needs through Amazon since I have a prime account for ages and its delivered to my door.
I have a GIANT Fry's supermarket across the street

I only buy cloths, groceries or other at Walmart if I happen to need some 9mm. I dont roll my own 9mm since the price to purchase is so cheap and if I am going there to pick up a few boxes of range ammo I will pick up all the other things i need/want while I am there. I am not making a special trip to shop groceries there with a frys down the block but I will walk out of walmart with $150 worth of stuff I didnt actually mean to go there for because the wife decides she needs those tee shirts on display or I should have more drawers or we should get stuff for dinner.

Guess .. they just dont want me there?! :think:

I like to try different ammo and while I reload most of my stuff for the range its convenient to be able to pick up some stuff premade or after years of shooting maybe you just want to try a box or 2 of the latest fad just to keep it interesting.

I did their prime membership since I don't always want to buy case lots of something and I have ordered as little as 3 boxes and its delivered fast and "free"

Not actually free since you paid for the prime membership but you also get wholesale pricing and in less than 3 months I made the membership back.

Just grabbed 3 boxes of Remington HTP 158gr SJHP at about $19 a box. Its my go to defensive round and there is no place locally I would have found it or found it at that price.
10mm magtech at under $15.00. Sportsmans warehouse might have 10mm once a month.

Yep Walmart would still continue to be the largest retailer in the world if they never sold another round of ammo or gun.

Targetsports is where I order my ammo from as well.

I'm sure ammo sales equals about 0.2% of their annual sales, so this is a hollow offering. But, the uninformed sheeple will see it as a major contribution to "the cause".

That was part of the same press release.

They are also stopping the sale of handguns as well. Though the only stores they have that sell handguns are in Alaska.

I'm certainly no lawyer, but since it's private property I know that they can prevent the carry of firearms altogether, but I'm not sure they can only prohibit certain kinds of carry.

Sure they can...like you said, it's a private business. They will just ask you to leave if you open carry. If you refuse, they call the cops and trespass you. If this indeed becomes company policy, don't open carry in a Walmart.

As always, concealed means concealed.

Kroger (Fry's grocery) is making almost the same statement; no open carry, calling for the government to strengthen background checks.

Walmart and Fry's have the best grocery prices. Who is the next cheapest? How is their gun policy / political stance?

Ammo has always been in the back part of the store. People buying $20 bucks worth of ammo will often pick up $40 worth of other crap on the way to ammo. They will feel this not a lot but they will feel it. Plus guys like me will now stop using them completely as well as frys.

1. I don't shop at Walmart unless I am incredibly desperate.
2. I don't really trust people who open carry as a default...they always seem a little off...like they have something to prove (sorry if this offends you, I'm sure some of you are nice people). The only time I open carry is a) shooting with friends in the desert b) competition.
3. This won't hurt Walmart at all.
4. Deciding to boycott a company over a policy you disagree with is silly. They will not miss your business. Write a letter if it makes you feel better.
