You may have heard about this on the news a few days ago.

Some dude with a knife encounters a female officer and threatens verbally to kill her with it. The officer,...likely very aware of the critical eye every one in the country right now is casting at police shootings,...retreated from the knife dude as he chased her around her cruiser, exercising great restraint is trying to avoid shooting him and delay any combat until backup arrives. As backup can be heard coming down the street code 3, the knife dude finally gives her no choice.

Loving foreign grub as I do, I have shopped at that very store many times. Also patronized the Indian restaurant and the cycle accessories store next door. I think that once she did the loop around the cruiser, she caught her wits and determined how she could best orient this scrote-bag for perforation. Her 'back-stop" at the time of the shot was due west, and was either toward a vacant storefront, or possibly the solid wall exterior of the market next to its entrance. Kudos to her!

This was one of my first thoughts too.

How much does anyone want to bet, there will be lawsuits filed against the PD and against her. I am sure the ACLU is already looking at this and preparing their legal people too.
