Note: Big bad sheriff states man shot "a 9mm automatic" .....
So a full auto IS legal in that State?
What brand full auto did he have?

Not being a sheriff I would say it was a SEMI-Auto
But what do I know

Every couple months there is some story about an idiot shooting himself or someone else because of ejected brass...

Who here hasn't had hot brass land someplace inconvenient

I put forth that if you can't handle the minor annoyance of "warm" brass on your " tender" skin you should take up crochet and stay out of the range. Guns is scary.

If your preparing for a gun fight and can't keep your composure when hit with brass just call the cops and hope they get there.

you seem to think anyone that shoots is a gun guy, or gal, they are not, very few shooters are actual what some would call "gunnies" who experience all the nar do wells that can happen in a long term shoot. Same with sites like this, while a lot of us shoot, few are hard core gunnies, big difference between those guys.

Yep, see it all the time, very sad. You and I have had to "straighten" out some of those folks while out doing what we do

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

Not that uncommon in everyday life...
Sympathetic Nervous System Reaction (SNSR)
Involuntary muscle stimulus, where one hand responses in similar fashion, unconsciously, to what the other hand is doing.

To be truthful I shoot indoors wearing Keen sandals. The webbing is small enough not to let a 9mm case go through. But I did have a 22 case go through and although hot, it didn't make me loose concentration on the target. Must be the difference in getting used to Arizona heat.

Zackly - this is how a lot of people shoot their hand.

Just this past Saturday I had a piece of brass land up on the bridge of my nose set on top of my glasses. Did it burn .. sure .. did I freak out .. no. I am not super man but I kept my gun pointed down range and treat it like I have a grenade in my hand and I just pulled the pin and am holding the lever. It never moves and I used my left hand to shoo the brass away. I lived and didnt shoot myself or anyone else. Its just not that big a deal

one of the big issues why ranges have arse holes as RO;s, so many ignorant idgits thinking they know about gats, even at desert shoots, we have had to educate a few near us ,for fear of our own safety, most are ok with finding out how it really works, but some get kinda nasty, such is life, stupid does create nastiness,
a good reason to sometimes be the hermit, and not have to deal with ignorance, its all the universities are sending out on the street, supposedly with that" higher up'' education, they only care about the :"money'' as do the directors to the education facilities,

and yet here we are continuing to build monuments to the failed public education system, bigger schools, with more social problems than a school should have, and paying administrators thru the roof for some reason. check out what a principal makes ,or school supt. yeah right.
