So, I recently bought a new to me '05 Jeep LJ that I'd like to register at my dad's address in Wickenburg. I won't have to do emissions this way, and I can register it for longer durations.

I know people do it all the time, I'm just not aware of the process.

Looking for some guidance...TIA

I have all my vehicles registered up at my youngest son's place in Prescott, but my mailing address for the DMV is at my residence here in the valley. I get all my DMV mail and registration renewals here.

You can do it all online(Service Arizona) and it is easy.

My oldest son does the same thing. Registers his vehicles and motorcycles at his brother's and his mailing address is down here.

Before, when my kids were still in school and living with their mom in Prescott, I used her address

I have only been through emissions 1 time is 33 years in Arizona and I have 9 vehicles and 2 motorcycles currently registered.

Using that Prescott zip code saves us both a ton on insurance rates, so bonussssss

So, I can just give them my dad's address?

It's a new vehicle to me that I purchased out of state. So, a title transfer is necessary too.

Yes, you can put down your dad's address, but it will be under your name and have your mailing address as down here in the valley.
You want to do that first before putting the title in your name, so you won't have to do emission testing to get your title.

Your other vehicles will use that registration address in Wickenburg too and will alleviate testing on those

As of now, my other rides are insured and registered as collectors. So, the are exempt.

I'm not seeing on ServiceAz or Adot where I can register alone. Just renewal.

Thanks.

I found it. You now have to change it on your AZ MVD NOW account, if you have one setup.
Go to "My Account"
Change address

There you can change address and mailing address
I did all this thru Service Arizona, before they went to MVD NOW

Yeah, I got there. But, no option to register only.

Your "residential address" on the form is Prescott, and your mailing is down here?

Is Prescott what's on you DL?

Yeah, no probs. A friend who lives off grid up near Ash Fork has his stuff all registered in Prescott as well, using another friend's address.

None of that is the difficult part. Try renewing your DL and you can't give them an address because you live in a converted shipping container in the forest on an unnamed dirt track. They don't accept P.O. boxes for that, either. By law, you must have an assigned address. DMV just decided to use the same friend's address, but they had to think about it.

Yes, residential will be your registration address and mailing will be down here.

My address on my license is still at my boy's mom's old address from when it was issued in 2014.
I have since updated my "residential address" to my son's and now have my mailing address down here.

I just by happenstance saw I could have a different mailing address when I did a change of address to my son's address and went ahead and did that. I was elated that I could receive all my registration renewals down here and not at my son's house, for practicality.
I have spare D.L. in my gun safe. I'm not sure what address is on that one. I'm not sure what address would show up if I ordered a duplicate D.L. today.

I think it is a good idea to have more than 1 physical D.L. just in case you lose you wallet or something

What?!? I had no idea this was a thing! So quick review. I have a buddy up in Showlow. I register my vehicles at his address, mailing address at my house in Surprise, and now my insurance goes way down and I dont have to do emissions anymore? Do I have to change my address on my AZ DL?

I tried to do the same a couple years ago for my 68 and got told no. They wanted a utility bill showing my name and address where the vehicle would be registered. I said screw it and got a non op title but that was also a headache since the car was not drivable but I wanted proof of ownership before spending money on the restro. Took multiple 3rd parties to sort that one out and all they needed was a level 1 inspection to check that the vin matched the title. Once drivable I ended up getting collectors insurance and omitted the emissions requirement that way. I wish AZ would do the emissions requirements at a set year range(ie older then 30yrs etc) vs having it for anything newer then 1967

There is always the LLC in Montana route like guys are doing on big money vehicles like motorhomes and RVs

My dad and I have the same first name. However, we both go by our middle names that are different. I just hope he has a bill in his first name....LOL

I think I have mine sorted. I just told the gal that the dealer I bought it from in Utah messed up. She corrected it over the phone. I'll go get the paper work tomorrow...fingers crossed.
