Or could this be a warning to the health insurance industry.... Greed has a price to pay. We will see.

How stupid do you have to be to believe this s***?

No offense - but - if what is being reported about markings on the casings - I think that this being revenge / warning to the industry is very likely - with the most likely alternate being that someone has a personal axe to grind with the guy and is trying to create the impression that this is the case.

If what has been reported about the three shots being "one in the leg, one in the chest, and one miss" from within 10 yards - with multiple weapons malfunctions in this series - it's pretty evident that this guy is not a "professional" (at least not professionally competent) shooter. No one who makes their living with a gun is going to go into a situation where they know they are going to use their gun, with a gun that is not extremely well tested and that they don't have a great deal of confidence will function consistently.

My best guess is that this is either a non-insurance related vendetta made to look insurance related - or its someone who had a relative with big health issues that had UHC deny treatment or claims and then had a bad result. If I were a betting man - I'd think that the latter is the most likely scenario.

Just my 2 cents...

I don’t doubt it’s some revenge thing. The idea that “greed has a price to pay” and “this could be a warning to the insurance industry” like it’s somehow justified is idiotic. It’s the same crap Taylor Lorenz is out there spewing.

Agreed - that the leftist / marxist groups using it in this way is evil. It's also clear that the health insurance industry (more accurately called the managed healthcare industry) does some evil stuff. I am a free market guy - companies should be able to sell whatever product they want to sell - but that's not where we are today... The government intervention in that industry, combined with the soulless approach to business brought on by the Harvard MBA types, has resulted in an industry that does things in a broadly amoral way - and the natural outworking of that, when it costs lives, is that nutty people are going to do nutty things.

So, it's OK for them to steal all that money you paid them on the premium and not pay for the procedures??? I say yes, this should happen when CEOs become corrupt and are allowed to continue scamming people. I hope it happens more. What they're doing is perfectly legal unfortunately, so, what other steps are there to take? I'm down for the cause on this one.

Never said that - but I also don't condone assassinating people because you feel they screwed you...

I'm all for changing our law to require plain English contracts - and I'm good with imprisoning company leaders if they fraudulently harm their customers - particularly if their fraud results in physical harm.

Not surprised that you’re all-in on something completely stupid. They’re not doing anything illegal. You voluntarily do business with them. But hey, kill ‘em all because you don’t like their business. Brilliant thought, as always.

Just a note, these guy, as "smart" as they are, apparently don't know that 147gr or larger 9mm is "subsonic". I expected more from these guys, disappointed to say the least.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

We don't know the story yet,...but I suspect it is more than that. It's one thing to be thieved from. It's another thing entirely if that thieving results in the preventable death of someone I love. A preventable death that the the fraudulent thievery had advertised itself as being a solution for you to specifically prevent that preventable death. Again,...we don't know the story yet. But if it is like that,...phuk that guy.

Yep, I'm with ya. If their actions lead to the death of a family member, then, karma should get a bit of help.

Well, well, well, looky here, I think someone got a message.

Curious to see how some the above posts will age if it turns out this wasn’t some aggrieved father, but an Antifa type socialist who can’t stand that free market health care exists, like the congressional baseball shooter.

Nope, young kid, Luigi Mangione from what I know now.

It only changes my view slightly... If he's a Marxist who assassinated the leader of a healthcare company as an act of political terror - I want to see him fry... better yet - hang him in Times Square (not that the nut-jobs in NY would... but... )...

If he's a mentally disturbed guy who snapped after mom died and UHC denied therapies that he believes would have saved her - I have a bit more sympathy for him... He should still be tried and punished... but I'm less interested in seeing him swing.

Lastly - I'll reiterate that I do believe that the managed healthcare industry is deeply broken and needs reform - but what needs to happen is the opposite of what the collectivists want. Return insurance to being "insurance" - meaning that you buy it to cover the costs of an extraordinary event that would bankrupt you - not to manage your day to day healthcare - and require that policies be written in plain English with clear boundaries as to what is and is not covered - then let the consumer decide what they want to pay for...

My 2 cents...

Aaannnnndddd... that did not take long...

An excerpt...
According to law enforcement sources reviewing his online activity, Mangione is known for anti-capitalist beliefs and criticism of the U.S. healthcare system. His Goodreads account features quotes from historical figures like Socrates, Bruce Lee, and Ted Kaczynski, the “Unabomber,” recognized for his anti-establishment views. Mangione also reportedly carried a manifesto that criticized the financial and ethical practices of the healthcare industry.

So... if they can prove that he did it... let's start building the scaffolding...

It's also being reported that the gun appears to have been a 3D printed ghost gun... Let the ramping up of attacks on the 2A begin - when the real question should be: "who radicalized this terrorist?" U Penn?

Just say non serialized frame or lower, no need to scare the plebes by using their terminology.

Gay or not gay?

What does that have to do with anything? Why would it matter in this incident?
Nothing. Not a thing.

Why is it relevant whether his gun had a serial number or not? Or whether it was made on a 3-D printer or a CNC machine? Or whether he used a suppressor? What difference would any of those things make in the outcome? The victim would be just as dead.

For that matter, why is it relevant that he used a handgun, not a rifle or shotgun? Why is it relevant that he used a firearm, and didn't run the victim through with a sword, or hit him in the head with an axe?
