What is everyone's thoughts on the firearm used? At first the reports were that gun jammed. From the video, it looks like it jams after each shot.
I heard on one news channel that they mentioned it was an older style gun, now another station mentioned it could have been a tranquilizer gun of some type. The guest immediately said it could not have been any type of dart gun, which I agree.
A friend thought that the pistol may have been modified to not eject rounds to help minimize sound.

Most likely a wish.com “fuel filter” suppressor; the gun failed to cycle because browning-type actions need a Nielsen Device/LID/booster to cycle correctly. It wouldn’t surprise me to find out the gun was a polymer80 type “ghost gun”, either.

Not a “professional”. A pro wouldn’t have done it in view of a camera, or in the most heavily CCTV monitored city in the US. Off the top of my head, I can think of at least 3 better ways to complete the task with zero possibility of being caught.

If they find the shooter, it will turn out to be a dude who had a family member that got denied medical coverage for some dumb reason and they died because of it.

But, I really don’t care. If the shooter was black, you’d hear nothing about it on the news.

I agree, he definitely was not a professional. And since he wasn't, that could explain why he was having issues with the pistol.
I don't have a suppressor so I am not that familiar with the operational impact on the firearm. That makes sense for what we see in the video.

On the contrary, I think the was quite familiar with the pistol, but not a professional "hitman". The speed with which he clears the FTE/FTF malfunctions tells me he knew exactly how the gun was going to fire, and he was fully expecting the malfunction to occur. The gun behaved exactly as it should if you were running a non-boosted suppressor; the gun would fail to extract the fired cartridge, just as it did in the video. The shooter was clearly practiced at clearing such malfunctions. In fact, the spent and ejected live rounds had words written on the casings that relate to a book about how insurance companies f*ck over customers, and how to get your claims accepted.

I think QuietM4 called accurately regarding the suppressor used. He simply used a common pistol (perhaps a Glock) with a non-boosted "standard" suppressor;...likely made from a kit imported from China.

Now as for his skill in handling the weapon despite the jams;...If he put in any time at all shooting out in the woods somewhere before he tried this, he would already be aware that the gun was going to short-stroke and not feed a new round. He might well have put in a little time mastering his single-shot repeater. That would explain much about why he seemed so calm and collected as he dealt with the jams;...because he knew they were coming. In fact, his first shot was his best shot, punching through the victim in the X-ring. But it was after that when it appears the adrenaline might have bobbled him a bit, which is why his only other hit was through the guy's calf.

(SIDE NOTE: the lesson here is plain puny 9mm FMJ gets the job done when proper shot placement is applied.)

Yes, it's pretty plain that the shooter is likely holding a grudge over some family member dying from being denied medical care due to United Healthcare policies. Say what you will about the Unibomber,...but people today seriously discuss and debate his manifesto as to it's merits. He was certainly wrong to get that result by killing people. But no one can deny he succeeded. I am rather certain the same will happen here.

It is understandable to me if someone goes postal due to a loved one being refused coverage and dying.

I have had stomach problems for decades, and finally found a doctor that really tried to figure it out.
But UHC would not pay a single cent for a bunch of procedures I had done in 2017.
So, besides having to pay for the all the testing, the doctor could not find the cause.

When this video first came out that morning, right away people were telling others they were "gun experts" and attributed the non cycling due to under powered ammo so the silencer would work better. Then claiming a pro did this. I mean seriously, any real "gun expert" knew exactly what they were seeing. Probably an 80% glock clone, with a "solvent trap" that was drilled out, and no Nielson device, running 147gr ammo. Oh, and first round pop is still a thing for those that didn't know about it.
Took me less than a minute to deduce this wasn't a "pro hit". Oh, and that guy they have photos of without his mask, that ain't the shooter, they want it to be so bad so they don't look bad they can't find him.

Yea, this was a revenge thing, it's pretty obvious. If it were professional, the guy could've had ten security guys around him and still had the same thing happen, but from a distance and not even left a trail. Being as this CEO isn't living with his wife, it does make you wonder if there weren't other things at play here as well. This was a "mob style" hit, and the shooter wanted everyone to know why, hence the casings on the ground.

If the reports are true, he fired three shots at very close range. First one hit the leg. Second one hit center mass, and that was the kill shot. Third one missed -- at powder burn distance. What was that group size?

It wouldn't matter where he was from; even if he was from a very gun friendly state, say Arizona, the smart move would be to use a Polymer80 type gun and a fuel filter/wish.com suppressor. All easily purchased via cash or even bitcoin...untraceable, no paper trail. Go out to the desert/forest and test fire it, practice tap/rack/bang procedures due to the non-cycling nature of the non-booster suppressor. Lets say he is a local of NYC...same deal; lots of gun shows in NY and neighboring states to find those items.

Bottom line; getting away with murder is not difficult; most people are stupid, or simply lack the knowledge/skill, or ability to be imaginative/creative with the means and execution.

I don't think they are going to find the guy...he's long gone. Every hour that goes by, the chances of the shooter being caught diminish exponentially.

Guys, please don't post how ignorant you are of gun stuff, it's not a good look for us that do a lot of stuff with guns. I've assembled at least 2 dozen Polymer80's, and most of the time, the issues I've had were with the FCG I bought to put in it. Now, other problems, a bit more difficult to tell, like the spring under the slide lock sticking up too far and not cycling when firing, but works perfectly when function checking.

This kid knew what he was doing, how the gun would react to a tilted barrel weapon with a suppressor with no Nielson device. If he was a "pro", he would've used something with a fixed barrel.
