You couldn't sue them before as they had Qualified Immunity which made it impossible to win.

This will help a lot by stopping some of the more badge heavy types out there.

Ah, the world's foremost authority (self proclaimed) on everything chimes in. I believe I'll put you on ignore.

Wah wah wah. The dim flash taking his toys and going home.

Once again you're wrong. If you had bothered to read the decision before chiming in with your all too unimportant opinion, you likely still wouldn't have understood it, but may have noticed the below quote that might have given you a clue.

"*Both the Government and respondents agree that government offi-
cials are entitled to assert a qualified immunity defense when sued in
their individual capacities for money damages under RFRA. Indeed, re-
spondents emphasize that the “qualified immunity defense was created
for precisely these circumstances,” Brief for Respondents 22, and is a
“powerful shield” that “protects all but the plainly incompetent or those
who flout clearly established law,” Tr. of Oral Arg. 42; see District of Co-
lumbia v. Wesby"

Only a handful of people I know could afford the legal bills to even get there, to the top court.

I wonder if a good lawyer may wait for payment until after the settlement?

No attorney is taking on a case where you are suing the gov’t on a contingent fee basis. Unless they enjoy working for free.

Or unless they really have it out for .gov and enjoy working for free... Sounds like a legal defense fund would be needed along with a lot of donations to move it through the court system. Its a wonder you don't see ads soliciting donations more often for these issues.
