First time shooting anything other than a .22 rifle since my surgery.
Went to my fav desert place and was amazed. It was the cleanest I had ever seen it, usually I leave with my truck packed to the gills with other people's trash but this time I only took out a half dozen old tires and not too much else so a big thanks to everyone else who desires to preserve the last few sites we can actually use.
Shot a couple new to me hand guns for the first time, Glock 20 and a 21.
21 won't return to battery, have to barely push the slide for it to go all the way. I had put in an aftermarket threaded barrel for a future silencer purchase. Super accurate though.
If anyone wishes to chime in on any remedies please go ahead.
The most incredible thing was that I wanted to see if I could shoot shotgun so I brought my Benelli.
I had ordered this shotgun over 2 years ago. I had hunted every bird season for almost 30 years with my trusty Winchester 1300 pump 20 gauge and finally wanted something really nice so I bought the 12 gauge auto loader. I could not hit the broad side of a barn with the thing. Very frustrating.
Well in 20/20 hindsight, I wonder how much of my problem was from my shoulder being so screwed up for the past 15 - 20 years because now I cannot miss! I had gone through everything as far as fit and adjustments but previously I just really sucked with that shotgun.
I was hitting everything until the wife cut herself really good on the thrower. You know how when you are in that groove and you don't want to stop? I loaded a few more and was operating the thrower with my feet but decided we had to go get her some stitches. She's ok.
 
I used to have a Winchester 1300XTR in 20ga., and that was the sweetest shooting shotgun I've ever owned. Dad's Browning Auto Light 5 came close, but not quite.
 
:lol: I love the part of the story where you shot a few more rounds before deciding your wife probably needed stitches. She must be a very patient woman.

If the Glock 21 isn't returning to battery, you may want to look at replacing the recoil spring. If you just replaced the barrel and hadn't shot it with the original, I would probably drop it in and try that barrel as well to see if it functions. Maybe the specs were off on the new barrel and it could be out of tolerance. What was the new barrel you put in?

I picked up a Browning Maxus several months back and I intended on doing some bird hunting this year, but life got crazy and that never happened. I still haven't shot it, but you're making me want to get that shotgun out to hit some targets.

Oh man, that is terrible about your wife's painful injury. Now who is going to make your sandwiches? Does Jimmy John's deliver?

lol, sorry for the damaged ole gal,

pretty much did the same, had a couple of the daughters in town, and convinced a associate to give them a few hours of lessons to negate the bad habits the old man taught them, and then another associate introded the old gal to his sbr ar9, sbrar22, and a tx22 w suppressor, and now she has to have one of or all, so for me not knowing for sure what she wants, i will probably have some trail and error on purchasing before i actually get her "wants'" right, hehehehe, gotta have a plan ya know.

Lol I told her she had cut her knuckles worse punching me in the face.
It didn't whack her, she just had not cocked it all the way to latch and it whizzed by her hand sliced it real clean. Only two stitches.
 
Glad it wasn't too serious lol.

With the G21, is it not returning to battery every round? First round? Last? Lubed? Brand new barrel may need some break in. I agree with trying the OEM barrel to see if it also presents the same issue.
 
Its a Silencerco barrel. I bought a new guide rod and spring set from Wolff and will try again and bring the OEM barrel as well. I did buy this one used and the trigger and connector were screwed up. I have already replaced those parts before I even shot it. It would not surprise me if the spring were wrong as well. It does feel a little light compared to a bone stock G20. I plan on using this one for home defense with a silencer and Hydrashoks so I went with an 18 pound spring, OEM is supposed to be 17.
 
So the guide rod that was in it matches the new one. The new 18# recoil spring has less turns but heavier gauge wire. Wolff also includes a new striker spring. The new one has significantly less power than what was in there while the new recoil spring definitely is more stout.
I saved the guide rod for my G20 and threw the mystery springs away.
Hopefully I can get out and try it this week.
 
Might want to keep the heavier striker spring.
Early 21’s had some light strike issues.... ask me how I know.

They are also a little more finicky with worn/light recoil springs so your heavier one there is probably going to take care of chambering issue.

If it doesn’t that barrel is probably a little tighter chambered/shorter lead for accuracy. If you are doing any reloads may want to check brass sizing.

I dropped a threaded barrel into a 1911, and it would not close easily. Took it to Ted Yost. He looked at it, and without taking any measurements, said "The hood is a little too long. Needs to be faced off." He grabbed a file, and freehand, without even using a vise, he faced off the back of the barrel hood with about three strokes of a file. "That looks about right."
It has worked 100% since.

Is that what's wrong with your gun? No idea, but it's one thing to look at. The barrel hood may be a jillionth of an inch oversize.
 
Have not had a chance to shoot it yet since going through it. Laser is in, silencer is coming, wife got a new gun so we will definitely will be out very soon.
 
She got the SIG and she likes it.

New springs in the Glock 21 fixed the issue and it ran perfect with no feeding or FTF issues,
however, ejected cases keep hitting me in the shoulder or forehead, now what??

Ah, the notorious BTF (brass to face)
Been a long time since I read about that. My 30sf did not do that, much to my relief.

Do a search for Glock BTF if you have time on your hands.
