To serialize or not to serialize ?

I serialize all of my guns home built "U812"

I know there's a joke or reference to something there, I'm just drawing a blank on what it is.

This is my understanding from what I've read over the years...On an 80% gun you are not putting a "serial number" on it as you are not making production guns. You are putting a unique identifying mark on it so you can identify it if lost or stolen. If you put a serial number on it it would be 1,2,3,4...1005 etc. If you are putting a UNIQUE identifying mark it's going to be longer and unique. So "Arizona Shooting #1 I love Arizona!!! " would be a unique identifying mark.
