I know that hammer fired da/da is passe but ... I dig em. anyone have any experience with the FNX?looking for opinions
Alex

I had both the FNP and FNX in .45.
Liked everything about them except for the mags.
The FNP was very ammo picky, the ammo had to have a short overall length to feed.
The FNX was supposed to fix it, they made the mags a little bigger, but that screwed up the mag catch.
FN customer service sucked and didn't do a thing to them other than put some stinky oil on them and send them back to me.

As much as I liked them, if a gun is not 100% reliable, I sell them.

The FNX can be carried hammer down (DA/SA) or cocked and locked (SA). The thumb safety is a thumb safety, unless you push it down hard, then it drops the hammer. Here's the problem: if you choose to carry it cocked and locked, and then try to draw and shoot fast, almost always you drop the hammer as you are drawing, and suddenly, mid-draw, you are not carrying cocked and locked any more.

If you're looking at the FNX-45, you better have big hands. Good pistol, not for small hands.

Had a fleeting thought about the .40. I saw a refurb going pretty cheap but I think I will pass.
thanks guys!

They seem well made but the mags are expensive and FN drops support of models on a whim. The mags ought to be interchangeable from the FNP, FNX, FNS and 509. I’m pretty sure all 4 designs use different mags though. And they are usually about $100 more than a comparable Glock, S&W or CZ.
