Thoughts on all the new gun owners

So with the black plague firearm buying panic going on there are now lots and lots of first time gun owners out there, is this a good thing or a bad thing (glass half full or half empty)?

I can see both sides

On the positive side: At least some of those people are not going to want their gun rights taken away, and any new recruits to shooting sports are a good thing. In addition there should be some sweet deals on lightly used firearms in about a year.

On the negative side: More assholes that have no idea what safe handling or storage of a firearm is.
 
I don't think it will change anything. Panic buyers aren't going to change their political views. After this crap is over - they will sell it off and resume voting how they always have been.

I honestly think a lot of current gun owners are fudds, tacticool operators, extremist whackjobs, Etc, Etc. Most of the "gun people" I meet, barely shoot. Many would rather talk about em' than actual go shoot em'. Maybe we need some new blood!
 
I think it’s important for the criminals to know law abiding citizens are protecting themselves more and more these days. It won’t completely stop violent crimes but I sure do hope it helps prevent them. Happy to live in AZ compared to some other states!

I like that, the more we try to be understanding and TEACH them the more they will realize that gun owners are not as evil as the media wants to say we are.

Take these people under your wing and mentor them.
 
If the NRA was a functioning organization they would be organizing classes and recruiting members to be trained to teach the classes. They would have youtube videos on safe gunhandling, and proper grip and sight alignment.

The NRA hasn't been a functioning organization for many years. Too busy giving themselves expensive wardrobes and home security systems.

New gun owners are a good thing...especially all the cheap, un-fired used firearms that will be for sale in the near future.
 
I'm not sure it's rational on their part in most cases. Just people panicking but not quite preparing in the right way considering the main threat is a virus. It's good that more people are armed though.
 
Welcome! Ask them if they'd like any assistance, watch their muzzle discipline if you're on the line, and carry-on. I would only broach the RKBA aspect if I could sense them bringing it up. "Yeah, I couldn't get it that day, dealer said something about a 3-day hold?" ...or similar.
 
Why would new gun owners be anymore dangerous than new gun owners pre wuhan retard syndrome?

The answer is they aren't. One is acting like a hoplophobic hand wringing libtard if they manufacture such fear out of thin air.

I've convinced people that refuse to own guns but to not vote against us. It's all how we talk to them, even the one asking harmless questions about the things that they did buy, not all are die hards you know.

Yup, you have to ask the right questions at the right time. Just like sales.

I literally watched a woman get denied on buying an AR because she put down that she was buying it as a gift for someone else as it was one of those electronic forms and fat fingered it. Sucked to see the confusion and panic set in that they were telling her she had to wait a day and then come back in because it locks up her application.

None of those laws helped her and it's no one business if its for you or you're buying it for your fairy godmother.

ya, most will be put in the back of the closet or in a drawer and never seen again.

But still with this many people buying guns for the first time at least a small percentage will go shoot them, if they have fun maybe they become one of us.
 
Lots of scenarios could happen.

First time owners, no firearms experience or common sense A.D.'s happening and the media and politicians using the carnage against responsible gun owners.

Leave their gun loaded and where their kids can get them.

Selling their Panic guns to the first yahoo who comes up with the cash. Not caring if they just sold it to a criminal / tweaker or not.

I wonder how many new gun owners have taken a firearms class?

I hear, and read this all the time, from the left. And it sounds sensible,.... until,... I sit back and think about it.

For all the hundreds of millions of firearms in our society, I have not had one personal experience WITH SUCH an A-HOLE in my ENTIRE LIFE!

I doubt a few more is going to change that, at least, for me. :whistle:
 
hmm, hard to say, i know of at least four folks who partook in the purchase of first weapon, a couple have had shooters when growing up, but would venture to say maybe 30 years ago, and a couple just getting into it, they have reached out to myself and a couple of other associates to get the "heads up" on laws, safety, and responsibility of gun ownership, have to say it surprised me, but had two over for brunch this day and went thru the pros cons, and got them to join azcdl, hehe, and probably gonna go out odark thirty in am and run them thru a mag or two, before the shooting spots fills with "so called " experienced gun owners.
we will see what we will see, nothing like leading someone down the yellow brick road.

good job RJ, if we help them along there is a much greater chance to get them thinking with us instead of against us.
