1906 Colt Bisley Frontier Six Shooter 44-40(as all were)
Are you saying all bisley’s were 44-40?

I myself have worked on a 1900 .45colt bisley. I was recovered from the ground near tombstone. A friend found it near an old cabin that Ike Clanton was known to have used. It was still loaded. Buried in the ground with the grip frame sticking up. He tripped on it. Great find.
I was able to get it cleaned up enough to see that it was properly loaded. Empty under hammer. I got serial number so we were able to date it.

No all Bisleys were not 44-40. All 44-40s we're marked frontier six shooter instead of single action army. Something to do with the colt/Winchester rivalry. Winchester never chambered there lever guns in . 45 colt and but colt chambered there revolver in 44 WCF (44-40). But I'm working from memory which isn't what it used to be so I am probably totally wrong. Your Tombstone find is absolutely amazing. I was in Cody WY this summer. The Cody Firearms museum is awesome. But equally interesting there is a Found Guns Museum that is all about similar finds and there stories. Good stuff I love history.

Gotcha on the frontier! 👍🏼

That was fun for me as well. They brought it to me as a big chunk. I was able to get it down to see all the writing. Cleaned out the barrel you could see rifling. I was hoping to keep going, and maybe at least get the cylinder to turn but they wished to stop.
I only wished they let me buy it.... but noooooo
