The new ammo shortage panic has begun

Not rubbing it in, but I just reload 9mm in bulk for just under $.16 per round today. Press and necessary accessories have been paid for many years ago, so has the powder & primers.

Lol unfortunately this will only continue as people keep paying these outrageous prices for ammo.

Price goes up. People buy in panic, hoping to get it now before prices go higher. Then everybody follows suit. Price goes up again. Cycle repeats.

Luckily, I have a bunch, and have a few places online and locally I can get stuff from for still a somewhat reasonable amount. Much higher than I'd like to pay, but not like some places charging $700 to $1,000 for 1k/5.56

This auction just ended on Gun Broker. Highest price I've seen yet.

If you look at the bidders , almost all of them have no rating and a couple have a rating of 1 or 2.
It makes you wonder who is buying this stuff up and where it is going.

Commies may be stocking up, tin foil hat guys think the commies might have an inside track on purchasing?

Just looked at J&G website in Prescott. Wow, they look like Cheaper Than Dirt prices. $650 for cheapo Rooskie .223 and $700 for 9mm. Brass case, add on another 100 bucks. Boy, I'm glad I reload.

Things have gotten really strange. I dont know if there are rip offs happening but I just sold off the rest of my 9mm. 70 rounds .. met the guy and ... he proceeded to take out each and every round from the boxes and examining it like he was looking for covid. I thought he would look at a few just to make sure it was what I said it was but .. 70 rounds

Yeah, but for $140 it was worth it, right?

Good god. It amazes me what panic does to people. I mean people have to be paying these prices as low stock is everywhere and the price keeps climbing!

I feel torn about the increasing ammo prices. On one hand, it's reasonable for the market to determine prices, but what J&G and Cheaper Than Dirt are doing seems nuts. I think there would be some benefit to retailers raising the prices on ammo somewhat.

There might be a sweetspot on price where people stop buying ammo from retailers only to list in skyhigh on Armslist, and where ammo wouldn't fly off the shelves so fast. The more ammo is seen in stock, the less panicked people will be buying ammo they don't need. It's just the toilet paper shortage all over again... Except I can't defend my family with toilet paper.

It's hard to find and will only get harder to find, depending on who hold office at this time next summer, may not be able to buy any at all or ever again for that matter.
