Haven't been to Chuckbox in years. Need to fix that.

Info about Rehab Burger says they have lots of unusual combinations, like macaroni and cheese on a burger. Negatory. A burger stands on its own. Meat, bun, condiments of choice to include lettuce and/or pickle and/or tomato slice. Options include cheese and bacon. Forget pineapple and mango and asparagus and macaroni and pumpkin spice, OK?

the one i make for the bbqs at my place, nice and plump lotsa condiments
and imo, nothing beats a whataburger on the street

Rehab is okay - it is far from the best in the state. If you like a burger that you can't taste the meat because all the junk on it - Rehab is the place to go.

Chuckbox is ok too.

IMO the best burger I have had recently was at Farm Provision in Prescott.... The Heartline Grill in Sedona has a good one. La Grande Orange in Biltmore has a good burger.

the burger place to try is Paradise Valley burger Co. on 40th street and Bell Rd- i love the brulle but ill take any of their burgers

i would say rehab probably cracks the top 25 when they are on their game.... AT BEST.

alright.... so i have traveled AZ for about 30 years now (120k miles + per year) and have hit almost every ground cow spot i could find. i agree with paulgt2164, tripletap and QuietM4 in their choices of better than rehab.... all are great burgers. i will throw out a few i enjoy and can add to the list. these are in no certain order just good burgers if you are in that area.

- Roaring Fork - Big Ass Burger - Scottsdale

- Lindy's on 4th - Almost Any of Them - Tucson

- Golden Goose - Kobe Buger or Any of Them - Sedona

- Coronet - Any Prime Sous-Vide Burger - Tucson

- Hillstone - Chuck Steak and Brisket Cheeseburger - Biltmore Phoenix

- Jade Bar / Elements - the Jade Burger With Hand Cut Fries - Paradise Valley

- Horseman Lodge - Any of Them / Bison Burger - Flagstaff

- Macky's Grill - Mega Ooey Gooey Burger & Fries - Payson

i am sure i will think of more but this will get ya started in the right direction. also, make sure you call before hitting any of these spots dunno about masks, dining in, if they are open or whatever anymore.

Never heard of most of these and I'm a native. They all seem to be boutique burger joints that probably cost more than a good steakhouse, yes?

Howzabout some workingman burger places that are accessible and affordable and good?

i think all the above places listed by myself and everyone else are falling in the $7 - $17 range. i see co-workers drop $15 - $25 a day at lunch for jack in the box, chilis, panera, red robin, etc. and that is crap. i'll gladly eat a great burger over that garbage.

good steakhouse prices - Add a zero on the end of those.

accessible - walk in the door

affordable - plunk down $7 - $17

good - BINGO!!!

Yeah, the places I listed fall in the ~$15 range. I think anywhere below that are basically eating the same tasting thing. "Boutique" is what you want in a burger place, IMO.

I always order a basic, boring burger with very little toppings. That is the real test - how does the actual burger taste. I always laugh at people who proclaim some burger joint to be the best yet whatever they are raving about has 2' of crap on top of the patty.

Unfortunately there are a lot of burger places that overcharge compared to their competition (Cold beers and Cheeseburgers, Burgers & Brews, Rehab, etc.)

Burgers & Brews used to be ok as their basic burger was tasty, and $11 with tots or fries - but the owner raised the price by $4 due to the "shortage." so I stopped going there which is a shame due it being really close to my house.

I honestly don't see why people go to places like Rehab, Red Robin, Fridays, Applebees, etc - when you can get a much better burger from the places I listed and badazmfr listed for similar pricing.

Food is one of those things I don't mind paying a bit extra for higher quality/taste.

Generally speaking I've found the best burgers in Sports Bars in every state I've traveled to.

YMMV

hey cub, does actually stepping foot in probably ALMOST every coney island in detroit, flint, grand rapids and toledo count??

i will say that the old fryers and seasoned grill tops from coney islands do have and bring unique flavors. nothin' like the real grease from the grill top that has seen beef, dogs/sausages, gyros... you name it.

i will gladly give it a shot if its like the originals....... well....... maybe without ALL THE EXTRAS. lol. some of the added topping may give you a headache. ;)

Bill’s Grill in Prescott.....

But the best burgers I ever ate were at the TasteeFreeze in my boyhood hometown in Florida! Grill had probably never been cleaned.... and had the best minced onions on top. It was the meeting spot to pick up my newspapers for my route on weekends.
Cheap greasy fuel for the day. Ahhhh for the 60’s!!!

Rocket Burger on 35th ave and Cactus. I always order special of the day.

Bill's Grill on Prescott is decent. I'd prefer Brown Bag Burger, but it's been a while since I've been to BBB. I'll head up there within a week or two.

Sams club food/cafe has bacon cheeseburger for $3. Cannot beat that for the price.

Rocket burger is interesting due to the soda selection, IMO the burgers are "meh" - but maybe it is just my luck as they have never got my order right at that place - and I am not ordering anything odd. I have a friend that loves that place, but out of the last 5-6 times he wanted to go there they screwed up my order every time. Lol.

However, they do stock a brand of cucumber soda....

Bill's Grill is where I had my very first doughnut cheeseburger. It's okay at best but what kills it for me is the parking situation.

How long is awhile for you? Brown Bag has changed ownership a few years ago but I can't taste the difference. Some say that they can though.
Atually about 3 years or so. I'm sure I won't taste the difference but I'll find out.

I'd imagine parking sucks when it gets busy but I definitely am curious about doughnut burger lol.

What do you normally order?

You'd probably would prefer Lenny's burger on 59th and Peoria, next to Applebee's.
