Tariffs Impact

Still some great deals out there if you can find them. Very happy to with the recent ammo deal that Lion put together.

Long term impact shouldn't be too bad because what Trump is incentivizing is American Manufacturing. Yes, I understand materials come from out of the country and that could effect things overall. But, Trump seems to be letting companies like Apple off the hook for being "Designed in California". So we'll see how it plays out.

just had my well pressure tank replaced- insisted on USA made- Flexcon - i paid not a dime in tarrifs-

If you have stockpiled ammo then tariffs are no issue
Desperate potentially in the short term then yes it impacts you

Planning ahead is a good thing

Here is the thing, because of massive overregulation we simply do not make stuff here anymore.

And NO, it's not about labor, it's about regulatory costs.

Powder. Just about all powder is imported either from Europe or Australia.
Lead. We closed the last primary lead smelter during Obama.

Brass and Copper, we are good with US manufacture.

Primers? I honestly don't know.

PSA was supposedly working on making primers domestically at one point, but there were years of regulatory hurdles, so I'm not sure how that turned out.

Until Trump forces the EPA to unlock the lead recyclers and lead mines, ammo is still going to be higher than it could/should be. Almost all of our lead now comes from outside the U.S. Even our own recycled car batteries are shipped out, then processed elsewhere, then shipped back in giant ingot form. We have the capacity to produce all the lead we can use, but EPA regs have ratcheted down on everything to the point it has become cheaper to do it elsewhere,...until now. And while China and Russia control most of the world's antimony (necessary for increasing hardness in lead), recycled car batteries already contain some antimony and tin in their alloy. Thus, sourcing recycled lead reduces cost of how much antimony and tin needs to be added. Unfortunately, China is also one of the largest destinations for lead acid battery recycling, along with India and Mexico. If we don't allow battery recyclers to operate here at home more freely, then we should at least direct all shipments of used batteries to Mexico, which is a more reliable trade partner than China.

There are options and solutions. But none of them can be just flipped like a light switch. Everything takes time to change supply chains,...as we all learned during the pandemic.

US made ammo will not be affected. Some foreign made ammo will be. So it's going to be a windfall for US manufacturers.
Of course it will. Where do you think US manufacturers get all their raw materials from?

Where is the copper and zinc mined? Where is the brass smelted? The lead? How about the primers? Or the gun powder? Or the plastic or Styrofoam trays and packaging?

That's not new. It's the intent. And with less foreign ammo available, domestic sales will become the norm and they (foreign prices) will go up notably.

It was announced yesterday that the tariffs are locked in. No more changes. July 12 is the drop dead date. Some will shock people not aware of the hikes.
