Suppressor help please

Not my first suppressor, but I think there is a problem with this unit.
Silencerco Omega 45K, Glock 21 w/Silencerco threaded barrel.
Doesn't seem to be doing much of any noise suppression.
I've tried several different ammo types, but I am making little progress.
Best was 200 grain at 900 fps, but still very loud.
I have contacted the manufacturer and they said heavier bullet and less fps.
So I tried Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel
230 grain 820 fps.
MY EARS ARE STILL RINGING.
Ridiculously loud.

Contrary to movies and TV, suppressors are loud.

My old Gentech Blackside 45 wasn’t too quiet, either. The Omega 45K doesn’t have a lot of volume to trap the gas, so that’s most likely the cause. I’ve never run my Rugged Obsidian 45 on anything but 9mm.

Try shooting it while holding the slide closed and see what it sounds like when the gun doesn’t cycle.

You want it quiet add some water into the can just a lil bit makes a big difference. You can use wire pull gel it last longer. Also what powder are you loading that makes a difference. Try a 230 jhp on top of some clay dot. I don't know why the jhp seemed quieter than fmj.

The semi-auto action doubles noise output. So best you can hope for is 50% reduction with 100% efficient suppressor.

Best noise reduction is with bolt-action rifle. Zero noise from action. And muzzle is much further away from your ear. Loudest noise is from bullet hitting target.

The Silencerco Omega 45K, key feature is light and small not best suppression.

When buying a can you need to pick what is most important to you. Silencers have a verity of choices to consider.. How quiet, size, weight, durability IE full auto rated and or barrel length requirements, price, single caliber vs multi caliber use. All of these things are a trade off.

When I sell a can I like to go over all these things for my customers so they are better able to make a good choice they will be happy with.

Guns make 3 sounds. Mechanical, report and sonic crack. A standard load 230 grain 45 is subsonic so that isn’t a factor. Mechanical (the action operating) isn’t that loud and the only way to stop it is to lock the action closed. The report is the expanding gasses coming out the muzzle at supersonic speed making a bang. That s what a suppressor controls. It slows the expanding gasses coming out the barrel. Cmoor is right . A larger can with good baffles slows the gasses more and is quieter. An internal buffer helps too. Small lightweight cans slow the gasses less and noisier. I have an Sig 45 suppressor that is large enough to block the sights and has a buffer. It’s real quiet.

Any sort of water based lube works really well from my experience. I've even used shaving cream to tone it down lots. That being said, you're always gonna get a "first round pop".

This one is pretty large or so I thought. It does block the sights but I have a green laser on it. Purpose is to prevent deafness should I have to use it in the house. 45 acp has plenty of loads and most are subsonic so that was definitely a conscious choice. I have other 45's so I am familiar with the caliber. This 21 came to me used and majorly fooled with so I will replace the recoil spring, maybe it's so light it blows back too quickly and doesn't let the suppressor do it's job. I will also keep playing with loads.

Not familiar with the omega in 45, but are all the baffles installed. Silencerco is a real good outfit to service with quick turnaround time. My buddy sent in one with a baffle strike and it came back in 2 weeks all done. Call them with your issues and ask if they have a solution in mind.
