Hey guys been running Streamlight TLR-1 HL for years but have heard lots of good stuff about Olight PL-Pro Valkyrie. I wanted to get your thoughts.

Im a bit of a Streamlight whore myself, I have 6. If one ever breaks I might give Olight a shot.

Yeah I like them too. The olight looks like it's a good option but I'm not sure about the button operation and the recharging feature..

Love my Olight Warrior Mini. It’s got several features: nightlight, low, led, high, ULTRA.

You also get “triple click” to strobe and “double click” to high

On button has battery indicator so you know when it needs to be recharged. Buttcap is also a powerful magnet.

Clip is the “fold back” design so it can be used in pocket and on hat brim with the same clip.

This flashlight hits well above its price point.

Is it “battle tested” no, but it’s been tested in my shop for almost a year and I see no reason to go back to my Streamlight for pocket carry.

I’d add pictures but this forum is lacking in that dept and I’m not motivated to do the additional workarounds.

As near as I can tell, with Streamlight, an American at least touched it somewhere during the build process, with Olight, all China all the time. That's as far as I analyze it. If that changes I will reevaluate.

If you want your light to blow up, O-Light. If you want a light that doesn't rely on whoring themselves out to guntubers and is reliable, Streamlight.

Blow up? Seems a bit extreme.

You prob don’t like Vortex Optics either?

No third option for SureFire? They're my first choice. I voted for Streamlight as I have one I quit using years ago and have some experience with it.

Just buy a Streamlight or Surefire. CR123's are cheap, and if you're running night classes/matches they do sell rechargeable batteries.

Surefire makes great lights I admit AND if I was on the job I could justify the cost. BUT I'm not so I have to balance quality, durability and price. For the price I think Streamlights a great choice. I've had one mounted on at least one pistol or another for nearly a decade.

No contest. Streamlight for my handheld and weapon lights. Had a couple O light handhelds, they quickly went on ebay. Too gimicky and not a fan of all the rechargeable crap. Easier just to keep a spare battery nearby. Especially for a weapon light Honestly, I like my SLs so much, all my Surfires went on ebay too. Overpriced.

From the link:

if you read the case documents, there are no claims that the flashlight exploded, or even that the flashlight caused the explosion. The case is primarily based on the accusation that Olight didn’t provide adequate documentation warning of the possibility that batteries can explode.

So it’s about batteries.

And Chinese I’m sure.

Pretty sure my generation won’t be the last Americans. But feel free to scold me

I have run streamlight wpl for almost 15 years with not a issue that I didn't create.I have surefires but they all have Malakoff upgrades. A guy who works for me started testing the o-light. So far almost 3k rounds and 0 issues. It does have some nice features, almost makes me want one to try them out.

I voted streamlight. But surefire is the first choice. I own probably a 60/40 balance being more surefire. I've owned one olight and wasn't a fan. It never failed, but I didn't use it much. It just felt really cheap. They have a pretty good following though. The really nice thing about olight is that I think they helped bring down the price on a lot of the streamlights. You can get lots of their weapon mounted lights brand new for just over a hundred bucks now. And they have been on a pretty good run of creating new and different lights as of the last few years.

Competition + a free market = the good get better.

Same.

Owned several SLs over the years. Never had a single failure. Only difference is that if one of them ever did break, I'd probably just replace it with another SL. 8-)
