courthouses, offices and restaurants were already boarded up on Tuesday in the mostly deserted blocks around the city's Jefferson Square Park, the site of regular demonstrations against police brutality that have spread across the nation.

Concrete barriers ringed the area, with a handful of checkpoints manned by police who would only allow people with essential business to drive downtown. Pedestrians were free to walk the streets, but few did.

Do people not realize a grand jury is made up of citizens, their neighbors, from the community who hear the facts and make a determination on charging? This is not a prosecutor turning something down, it's not an agency covering things, their neighbors heard the facts and determined what if any charges fit..

I read that the NG has been called in and that Campbell is on standby if the governor asks for federal assets.

The 160th (Night Stalkers of Blackhawk Down fame) is based at Ft. Campbell. As SOCOM's taxi service, they are specifically exempted from Posse Comitatus along with most of SOCOM. So they are uniquely allowed under law to engage in law enforcement activity, if so ordered.

Reread Section 1385 of Title 18, United States Code (USC) and only NG or Coast guard has dual role which makes them exempt. Would certainly like to know if above quote is factual because if it is then its time to start bitching loudly to those elected...
