Springfield SA-35 High Power

Seems like every Firearm Magazine has the picture or an article on the new Springfield SA-35 High Power clone. By all accounts it appears to be a really nice gun.

Every one of the above mentioned magazines shows an MSRP price of around $700.

Every gun site that sells this pistol, which is extremely hard to find, shows a selling price of between $1000 and $1200. Grab-A-Gun currently has this gun in stock for close to $1200.

Why the huge difference in the advertised price and the actual selling prices available. I'm aware of the fact that demand versus availability effects the actual market price, but such a huge difference puzzles me. Maybe it's that simple, if so, the magazines need to stop advertising them at such a low price.

I have one on order with my FFL, $571.00 plus tax. No idea when it might actually show up, but I'm looking forward to it.

Something to keep in mind is the mag articles are basically paid ads. Take what they say with a grain of salt. They are simply quoting msrp, which comes from Springfield. The real value is what people are willing to pay for it.

Example, I used to sell cars. One year, a new model of ours got Motor Trend's SUV of the Year award. There was a lot of celebration, oooh's, and ahhhh's, until the manufacturer rep let it slip that the award cost them a lot of money...they were just the highest bidder.

Same thing happens with lots o' stuff.

Dildo-y people want to be the "first" of their social circle to have the new hotness and the dealers are happy to oblige at huge markup.

When they started selling the Civic Type-R here a few years ago - the MSRP was in the 38k range - and people were gladly paying double or more that as soon as the dealers realized people would pay it to get one right away. Same for the new C8 Corvettes - 60k dollar car and people were paying 120k just to get one before anyone else they knew. Stupidity knows no bounds. 6-8 months after the Type-Rs hit dealers they were selling for 40k.

Same with the SA-35. There are enough dingleberries that will pay 1k for one, instead of wait till they become common place on the shelf for 600ish.

And almost anything in print these days - gun magazines, car magazine, etc - you better bet there is some skewing for the advertisement bucks. That is why I have a few youtubers I watch that are not biased by the advert dollar.

The reason?

Some dealers are underhanded douches. Some buyers are stupid. Put the two together and you have retarded buyers willing to pay idiotic prices for a cheap BHP clone, and dealers willing to charge as much as they’re able to get said idiots to pay. Rinse and repeat.

I saw this coming a mile away, both the sheistery pricing/supply problems, and the teething issues they have. Nothing new in either case, IMO.

Wait and see what happens pricewise when the Ruger lever actions start dribbling in.
I hear many anticipating the joyous return of affordable utility rifle well made with blue and walnut for under $500????
I'm betting for the first couple years they will top $1200 to $1500 due to gouging !
The old JMs and Henrys are going to look cheap.

Yeah, right. Springfield has never manufacturered anything. They just slap their name on stuff other companies make. They announced they were going to build a 200,000sq ft facility back in April, but I highly doubt it is operational and making Hi Powers yet. Besides that, SA sucks.

I just picked up a Springfield Garrison, and I like it a lot.

I had a MKII and a MKIII Browning HI Power; I sold them both as
I'm not a fan of them, and If I want to pack a single action pistol
I prefer a 1911.

Having said that, it appears that this SA-35 does have some good
"improvements" over the Browning, which will appeal to those
who like the Hi Power. ( and a reasonable price).
