Before I did anything I would post a picture of it on a site such as this , asking for legal advice on how I should handle it.
After all you should always get legal advice in a situation such as this.

park my truck over it and take a "smoke break" while I wait for to see if the unit on the other side of that fence goes full panic or not, maybe consider rehoming an obviously abandoned and unwanted piece of "scrap metal".

first thought, Score! and then reality sets in and I realize I better notify the Guard of their loss.

My first thought would be "SCORE!"

Then I would start to realize how screwed I would be if found out.

Then I would wipe the finger prints and most likely put it back where I found it so some other brave/foolish soul could deal with it.

Not my property,... not my concern.

I've found guns in the past and when I do the first thing I do is call the police. They have always been glad that I called them. But in this case the Guard would be the first call.

it does look a little short... better get the numbers and see if it is in inventory before turning it over- verifying ownership so to speak.
