If I am reading this right it sold for over $10,000. I dont know who vickers is but are glocks that collectable?

What about this, besides someones deep pockets and perceived need or want would make this bid up that high?

According to the listing, it's a rare model, made for shooting underwater or something.

The Glock P9M is an EXTREMELY RARE specialty Glock 17 variant that was manufactured for the German GSG-9 Counter-Terrorism Unit with maritime environment usage in mind. It features maritime striker spring cups and drainage hole in the magazine.

I know the cups is a reasonably cheap part and fairly easy to install so I wonder if there are other changes to make it more suitable to maritime use?

Guess it's one of those ... there is only one and someone ascribed that value to it's ownership.

Still kind of amazing to me to see a plastic gun with little individual attention command that but I think there were 20 bids so ....

Never heard of a P9M before today.
Here is something I found on Glocktalk:
My best guess on total number of guns in the US is less than 10. I have only seen 2-3 change hands many years back privately, and the only other one I verified the serial number was a few numbers away from mine.
It is a gen 2 gun,
No Smyrna marks, strike out on grip from BSTu German military State Police. It was specifically made for the German GSG 9 anti terrorist unit, designed to be fired in/out of water. Has a special red extra power spring, maritime cups, lanyard, drilled magazines.

It is the only factory made Glock model, that doesn't conform to their base model numbering system, it is based on a Glock 17.

It was imported by SSME Deutsche waffen inc
PLANT CITY FL. Some time In the early 2000's
