Saw this on another forum. Now before you guys start laughing ... I shoot handguns with iron sights, mostly love to shoot revolvers, learned how to shoot a handgun on revolver and still prefer peep sights on an AR and my very first gun purchase was an 870 pump action. Yup ... I had tfo sights on a couple guns and liked them pretty much but .. I am kind of old school.

Today I saw a pic of this on another forum



So its a thingy that you can put your handgun into and it gives you extra barrel length. I must admit .. I think its neat. Can it be shoulder fired? tell me more. This was an M&P but I have to imagine anything available for the M&P is available for glock. Is it cool but just a toy or does it add any real capabilities?

That is a CAA MCK Brace. It is an updated version of the original RONI and Roni Micro conversion chassis. The MCK allows one to insert a complete handgun and yes they have models for almost all Glocks. The MCK is a brace so by design it has all the advantages and limitations of a brace. Shoulder firing is possible. The original Roni was prior to the brace craze and the installation of the original would create an SBR with all the requirements of that. The brace eliminated that but the future of the brace is already under scrutiny. I think the MCK is a cool piece of kit that in practice turns an ordinary pistol into a CQB carbine of sorts. It allows easy mounting of optics and accessories, The brace issues though make its future questionable and the longevity of the platform is unknown.

I've just gotten the Recover Tactical One for Glocks and will be trying it out tomorrow.

It can be shouldered and I put a red dot on it. We'll see what happens.

That is something I'd buy unlike the other ones above. Love to hear your opinion when you use them.

This is a more affordable option over the MCK but it is still a brace or stabilizer as they call it. So the same issues could come up. This is a lower priced take on the Flux Defense brace that came on the market a few years ago. It has undergone many changes and as of today i do not know the status of the flux brace product. I have an M&P and will have to look into it. Dont know that I have a real need but .. sure seems neat. I would though hate to spend the money if it is already something on the proverbial chopping block though.

Here's mine next to the trusty ar. I shoot it more than the ar and like McDonald's.... I'm loving it. Got a crap lload of mags for it too. G17 platform but they make it for Smith and Wesson too.

i was not sure about the setup but it was on sale last xmas and it’s in .45 or u can do a glock 20 iam able to ding 6 inch radius steel at 60 yards with no effort

I also ordered one of the Recover Tactical braces for my Glock 19. Between the price, being in stock, and the size, it seemed like a good option for me. I think the CAA is quite a bit of a larger unit, but doesn't add any barrel length. I was looking for something small that would fit in a laptop bag or even the smaller pocket on my backpack. So minimal size/bulk is a plus for me. The Flux looks great, but I read it was a tad too short when extended and it isn't in stock. So I figured the Recover was cheap enough to give it a go. I ordered it from Israel last week, so hopefully I get it sooner rather than later.

The flux is spendy but cool. I've always thought the CAAs seemed a bit bulky.
The recover tactical offers 3 point stability (ummmm, two?) in the most compact package at a great price.
This is the guy who came up with the concept, and how easy it is to use.

Okay, I shot it today and here's what I found:

1. First I shot it with open sights and shouldered. Beat the snot out of my right cheekbone as I had to press my face against the brace to get my eye low enough to use the sights. I'd say it's impractical to shoulder it and use the factory open sights and my cheek will be black and blue for a while. I plan on telling everyone Mrs. Flash beats me . Worked well just using it as a brace as intended, though.

2. Then I put on a red dot sight on a quick change mount. I used a Romeo5 type red dot and I now believe that the center of gravity was too high and it was a long lever arm putting too much force on the mount as the mount loosened too much to continue shooting. It was very accurate with the red dot and it didn't beat my cheekbone at all, just too high IMO.

So I came home took off the Romeo5 type sight, put on an RMR sight I have in stock, tightened everything up with blue loctite and I'll try it again next week. I'm pretty sure I'm going to like this a lot and the price, less than $100.00 is hard to beat.

Another thing I bought with the brace was their forward grip/spare magazine holder. I really like that thing and it worked very well. Here's a pic of it:
