Silencer Central CEO Brandon Maddox Joins Gun Talk Radio to Set the Record Straight on HPA

ROBERT, LA – In a compelling first-hour segment of Gun Talk Radio, host Tom Gresham welcomed Brandon Maddox, Founder and CEO of Silencer Central, to directly address public concerns and reaffirm the company’s support for the Hearing Protection Act (HPA).

The conversation aimed to provide listeners the ability to make their own judgements and highlight the Silencer Central’s continued advocacy for firearm suppressor accessibility and hearing safety.​

“I am happy we were able to give Brandon Maddox, of Silencer Central, an opportunity to talk directly to the firearms community and to address the charges peppering the company,” said Tom Gresham, host of Gun Talk Radio. “Sadly, the trend of Ready, Fire, Aim increases on the internet, and while that may generate web traffic, it’s not conducive to learning the truth of a situation. I think we were able to reveal the background on this story and, possibly, to quelch the dumpster fire just a bit.”

The Hearing Protection Act, originally introduced in 2017 and reintroduced in various forms since, seeks to reclassify suppressors from National Firearms Act (NFA) items to standard firearms accessories. This change would eliminate the current federal tax stamp requirement and lengthy approval process—making it more feasible for gun owners to use suppressors as an effective means of hearing protection.

Maddox made it clear on the show: “If the Hearing Protection Act goes through that is a huge win for us. Silencer Central has not lobbied against the passage of the Hearing Protection Act because there is so much upside for us if it goes through.”

I think some weasel words were used in their official post ("viable"?) as well as during his Sunday interview.

No, they aren't lobbying against the HPA (literally), but the HPA isn't up for a vote. The provisions of most of the HPA are in another reconciliation bill.

I think that Silencer Central's business model is no longer viable if silencers are not in the NFA, so they want to keep them in there, but at the same time, want the tax to go away. Their business model is based on that and if suppressors are no longer in the NFA, that's a HUGE hit to how they operate and their significant investment in their unique process.

He still didn't address all the lobbying payments and forms.
