sig p365 reassembly issues

Son in law took down and cleaned his pistol. Put it back together. Trigger will not set and can't get the slide off now. Google was no help.

This is why gunsmiths exist.
I barely see your point, because if you need a gunsmith for a field strip, I could make a make a case that you shouldn't have that gun, or you should study your toy/investment way more.
 
My point was he should bring it to a gunsmith to help fix the current issue, but not to generally field strip his gun.

If the guide rod is backwards, the gun is locked up, the guide is has no where to travel. I just tried to put the guide rod in backwards in my P365 on purpose, and I couldn’t make it do it…how did your SIL manage to do it? How did he get the slide to lock back in place on the frame? I’m very confused.
 
This guy is talking about the recoil spring in backwards but he may be meaning the whole spring / guide rod assembly. Note the part about the slide release orientation before hitting it with the mallet.
