It makes me think of the 80% guys making their own 320 trigger groups.

If the factory ones can go off,...what about Billy Bob's?

I finally got hands-on with one in the M17 pattern with safety.
THat's the only way I'd pack one. Trigger belongs on a target piece,
not a carry piece.

I've only seen one firearm fire unintentionally.
A Colt Gold Cup that the owner who was next to me at the time.
Worryingly light trigger for the 5 rounds he let me put through her.
Later some of us get called over because as soon as he chambers a round it goes off.

Busted the tip of his "honed" sear right off.

There are a few long threads on the sig forum about this.

I have fiddled with enough guns to be completely baffled. Any modern handgun has the drop safety in place. If something doesn't operate the plunger the striker can't make contact with a primer.

I have gone through in my head how it could just go off on its own in a holster and can only come to ... Maybe the plunger spring is to light and it's not pushing it down fully but you would still need a ton of inertia to get that firing pin moving forward. Nothing short of a drop.

If it's not operator error.. I am at a loss. Now I am not a gunsmith by any stretch but I have pulled apart a great many guns and understand how they work. Gun going off while holstered ... Wierd and a touch unbelievable.

Wonder if a lawyer got involved and called some of the people who shot themselves unsolicited and said they had a case?
