In this thread we will show something crafty we made. Metalwork, woodworking, knitting, doesn’t matter.
I’m always impressed by some of the projects I see and I hope others will enjoy this as well.
I will start. I just recently started playing at bladesmithing. My stuff is rather rough but I’m learning and having fun![/attachment]

My first inclination was to post a picture of my children....🤷🏼‍♂️

I assemble things like AR’s, but make from scratch....some people are talented (or disciplined enough to practice), some are not. 🙋🏼‍♂️ Part of the “not” group.

Great job on the blades. Something I have always wanted to learn but just haven’t had the time yet. Someday hopefully. And just think a skill like metal working can definitely come in handy. Keep up the hard work. Can’t wait to see how those blades progress as you keep practicing.

I used to work as a project manager and designer for a couple of Display houses and museums so I was responsible for making large scale outside the box stuff that hundreds of thousands of people would see and visit.

Now as an old tired fart how has little more than memories of glory days .. I make things like this

I also make stuff like this .. but I am pretty sure no one here would call it "making anything" since it only involved some printer paper and a pencil and really doesnt serve a function

Beautiful work, Alex. Your drawings and you leatherwork are amazing artwork. You should post a couple pictures of the displays you made. You did once before, but I can't remember if it was AZS.com, the other board or here. Was it Macy's Christmas display maybe?

I started with this. An old fridge with a dead compressor...

I ended up with this. A kegerator that will hold a 1/2 barrel & a 1/6 barrel...

A buddy of mine owns an auto body shop & did the paint job. I did the refrigeration & metal fabrication.

Your bevels look so much better than mine! Do you free hand or use a jig? What type of grinder do you have? Are you forging to shape or stock removal?

Those are rough forged to shape, then ground free hand. The one pic shows the rough stages. I have made and impromptu jig but haven't had a chance to use it yet. Want to finish these first then move on. Haven't gotten good enough to forge bevels yet. Have an OBM 2x72 grinder. I am also dabbling with a few stock removal blades.

That’s the grinder I want! Did you just buy the chassis or with a motor? Did you go single speed or variable? What belts do you like?

Chassis, motor and variable speed control. Just easier to get it all together. As far as belts I’m just trying different brands. Staying away from the Uber expensive ones as I’m not doing actual production. I got it a while back but still think it is one of the better deals out there.

Do you use the variable speed much? I was thinking of going with the single speed package they have.
