I have been shooting for over 70 years, mostly .22s. This is the first time this has happened to me. Twice this morning:

I was never careful about shooting glasses. No more.

A while back I witnessed a woman shoot a high power hunting rifle without eye protection. She was shooting right handed, trying to use her left eye. Yep, lots of blood..

Not to mention, over the years I've seen handguns fly apart, usually the cylinder in a revolver. Eye protection, don't leave home without it.

I had a high opinion of this brand of ammo a few years ago. The last couple of years I have seen several duds. Then, today, two case ruptures in about 100 rounds. Think it is time to rethink my loyalties regarding .22s.

Let me guess;...the Super-Speed in the red plastic 100-round boxes from Walmart?

They were cranking this stuff out like mad during the shortage and someone was asleep at the switch pulling a second or 3rd shift, because they shipped out truckloads of this compromised crap.

I had a bunch of it a couple years ago, and after having the bases blow out on 3 rounds from one box, I got rid of it. But I've heard of it continuing to happen even from recently purchased stocks.

Mrs. Flash and i both have small divots in our shooting glass lenses where a .380 hit them after being ejected.

I have always worn glasses as well. But, about a month ago I wanted to check a scope zero after the 22 cal. rifle fell over,... gophers are a constant problem around here. But my glasses weren't handy, so, I said to myself,... I am only going to take a couple shots. On the third and last shot I got powder blow back in my newly operated eye.

NEVER AGAIN!!!

No glasses = no shooting,.... for me!!!

I think this was a carton I bought from Cabela's a few years ago in one of their wooden boxes. They are lead round nose, high velocity. I don't have the lot number. I sent that info to Winchester and have sealed the box to get it ready for shipment.

UPS is supposed to pick the remainder of the carton to send back to the mfgr in the next day or two.

I never had glasses in the service and I don't wear them now. The only ones I wear are my Oakleys with tinted lenses for shooting in the sun light. I have never had a case hit me in the eyes or face. Now I have had gun oil and sweet in my eyes .
