Shill buying on GB

I"ve had it happen on a few occassions, its a clique of guys, you have to research some of the sold items, and you'll see the same guys bidding on same guys crap, i stepped off the sites a long time ago, when they went to the extra 15 on last bid, and then on a couple others allowed the last minute crap.

bidding at an auction can be emotional, when i was going after m1 carbines, to make the total collection, i was invested in obtaining all of them, and well i did, hehehe, maybe i still like the HUNT

I have bought and sold stuff on GB. If bidding, I do not care if I am out bid, have a price in mind and that is it. I have seen auctions run up and then relisted, so what, I just move on. No reason to get upset over some auction. If selling I set the starting bid for the least I will accept and a buy it now. If the starting bid is hit, it is sold, no drama

My biggest problem with GunBroker is the non paying bidders. Not only NR buyers who I'm always wary of but but guys with numerous A+ ratings. Sorry I didn't know shipping would be so much, I list the dimensions and weight. My wife has unexpected medical issues. Please rescind my bid, didn't realize it was 7.62x54R.

I have generally had pretty good luck on GB but I have had exactly what you had happen a time or 2.. And I also have had people want the same item and jump in at the end and drive the price up. I always set the price I am willing to pay and walk away now... Beats getting pissed off and wasting time waitng for the 15 minutes to end

Yeah this is all good advice. I was a bit salty because I figured I would have scored one at least and up until then had no problems on there.

Everything happens for a reason lol.

I will never understand the anger that occurs over auction sites. You literally put in the price YOU are willing to pay and walk away. If you don't get it then it wasn't at your price. Who freaking cares if there are shills or not.

Always used the buy it now, I find the volume sellers have good prices.
One seller even switched the item for me at no charge when I accidentally bought in 9mm and wanted 45

This is what happens when you are trying to buy an item for the lowest price possible. The seller has an expectation of the lowest nominal price he wants to get. Obviously, you didn’t meet his criteria. That’s the way the auction cookie crumbles. Sometimes you’re the dog, sometimes you’re the fire hydrant.

You have the option of going up in your bid, and you have 15 minutes to decide if it is worth it to you.

You can get some good deals on GB. Sometimes you can over pay. Depends on how bad you want something and what you are willing to pay.

Still bidding comes with the territory. Your posts are entertaining

This stuff is why I miss the old Backpage. It was could be sketchy, but I had the most success buying and selling and had a ton of good exchanges.

Because I am mad. lol.

I wanted the fracking gun.

If someone wants to pay 650 bucks for a P07. I will let them. That shit is bananas.

I always had the worst luck with Backpage. Winning an auction, then getting messaged and told that someone had offered them more and would I beat it. That happened on a couple ARs that I wanted. That kind of stuff pisses me off. I told both sellers that no I wouldn't match or beat it, and now I wasn't interested. Amazingly enough, both messaged me later and told me that the other offer had fallen through and would I take them at the original price. I told them not a chance.
