The old Singers are cool, but not worth that kind of money IMO; they made a bajillion of them. I've got 2 of them, 1 to restore and 1 for parts. The one I'm restoring was my wife's grandmother's, but the cabinet was shot. I was able to buy another complete setup just for the cabinet (treadle, cabinet, working machine and a chair) for $40 on Craigslist.

I'd be happy to sell the spare machine for $40 minus the treadle and cabinet.

i use a lot of the old cast iron legs for furniture,

also, some of the old treadle sewing machines will do leather, and rather thick leather, you have to do some research on which models, but with the price of machines these days, an old guy to do leather is a cheap investment

Since I've got an extra treadle now, I thought about buying a dynamo and a converter and turning it into an "antique" cell phone charger...lol. Make the boy earn it!

I grew up with sewing machines like this. My Mother used one for years.
I still have the leather machine she had.
If the sewing machine in the add works like it is supposed to , it is worth every penny of $70.
The problem is , the add say's $250.
