Hey guys

What sites or apps do you all use to sell non-firearm items, like tools, etc.? Is Craigslist still viable? I know it was slowly dying off. I've heard of OfferUp but not sure exactly how well it's been adopted.

I have that UTV listed in the classified here but I know this is a relatively small group. Not sure if vehicles are better sold on one platform versus another but it's obviously not going to sell here.

Any thoughts would be deeply appreciated. I'm trying to clean up around here and anything my boys don't need I would like to sell.

Thank you all
Joe

I use offer up for stuff. I haven’t sold anything on there, only made purchases. You have to verify your account with a phone number. Possibly with an address, too. But, it has been awhile since I registered, so I don’t remember. It uses a rating system also, so maybe it helps weed out scammers.

My neighbor uses facebook marketplace and has bought and sold without any issues.

I prefer shopping on Craigslist, because you can actually SEARCH for specific things and discriminate out the stuff you are not looking for. But because Craigslist now seeks to charge a fee, most folks have switched to Facebook Marketplace because it is free. But it SUCKS, because the search function is for schit. If I enter "lift recliner" in FB Marketplace, it instead shows me every recliner, whether a lift type or not, and also tries to show me hydraulic vehicle lifts and transmission jacks and ads for Uber and Lyft. But despite that,...Facebook Marketplace is where the loot is at. It's just Hell trying to find what you're looking for.

Craigslist doesn't charge anything for normal items people have for sale.
What they do charge for is very reasonably priced.
I use it all the time.
The only thing I have ever been charged for , was when selling vehicles. Then it is only $5.00 .

This is what they charge for.

Type/Category Cost
Job postings $10-75
Apartments (Boston, Chicago, NYC) $5
Real Estate $5
For Sale by Dealer $5
For Sale by Owner $0-5
- Cars+Trucks $5
- Motorcycles $5
- RVS+Campers $5
Gigs $3-10
Services $5

Many thanks to all three of you. I do not have Facebook so that option is off the table, but will try Craigslist first and OfferUp as my backup plan.

I appreciate it gentlemen
Joe

since i retired a bit back, i've been selling bulk of items on facebook market place, hate the place, but gets more action, offer up sucks as nothing but flakes, anc well craigslist is okay, but a pain to post and deal with, but have had equally amount of luck there.
be prepared to deal with flakes, as its the norm for so called''buyers'', can't tell you how many i've made a deal with and when they show up want to negotiate, i just run'm off, had one get real ugly, love that pepper spray

Thanks RJ. This is going to be a pain but I really just want to clean up and simplify.

Most of the supplies and spare materials I'm planning on taking to Habitat or something like that. I'm not having people pick through electrical fittings...
