Russia's new pipeline bypasses Ukraine in pumping gas to Europe, Kyiv says Access to the commentsCOMMENTS

The Russian gas company Gazprom has stopped transiting gas to Hungary via Ukraine, according to Kyiv.

Ukrainian industry officials claim that gas is now bypassing the country to Budapest through a Black Sea pipeline.

A new contract was agreed by Hungary and Russia this week to transport 4.5 billion cubic metres of natural gas for 15 years, starting on Friday.

The pipeline will flow south of Ukraine through the Black Sea, Austria, and Serbia before reaching Hungary.

But the deal has angered Kyiv as Ukraine will lose its status as the main transit country for Russian natural gas to the European Union, as well as billions of euros in revenue.

I found this while looking for a pipeline map of Ukraine. I was wondering why they would attack a gas refinery in Russia and not a pipeline in Ukraine.

Yeah, this. Putin's army is pivoting to make their big push through the Donbass and drive through to Odessa, then head north and assault and conquer from BOTH sides of the Dnieper River.

This is all thanks to Belarus citizens monkey-wrenching the railways and pipelines near and along the border that caused all the logistical failures and created the famous 40 kilometer stranded convoy. When this is all over, there needs to be a monument to those partisans, because they are the ones who stopped the Russian invasion from moving south.

But Russia has 2 refineries within reasonable trucking distance of the eastern Ukrainian region, which they have much better security and control over. So plan B is to steamroll west from the Donbass. The Ukrainians know this, which is why they hit those 2 fuel depots in Russia proper, trying to buy themselves time to figure out how to take out the real target that will shut this all down; the refinery at Krasnodarekoneft in the northern Caucuses, 150 miles SE of Mariupol and a little over 50 miles east of Crimea. If that can be hit and knocked out, the southern campaign will also starve of fuel like the Belarusian front did. If Ukraine can push through to Mariupol, they will be in range to bombard Krasnodarekoneft with missiles they still have in inventory. A mad dash across the Sea of Azov with whatever jets they have would be unlikely to succeed, but would be legendary if they pulled it off. Up there with the Israeli raid on Osirak in 1981.

Russia hits Kharkiv gas pipeline, allies devise plan for SWIFT restrictions.

Two separate Russian missile attacks on oil and gas facilities in northern Ukraine late Saturday caused massive explosions and fires that could easily become environmental catastrophes, according to Ukrainian officials in the cities impacted by the blasts.
