So if you like taking day trips up to Crown King, you have to go in from the Prescott side for now. The road from Bumblebee and Bloody Basin is still open as far as Cleator, but closed at that point.

The Senator Highway from Cleator to Crown King was been wearing away for decades, and isn't exactly safe for inexperienced folks in good weather. I've encountered youngins who've rolled their XJ down the mountain when there's zero mud or ice. Yes, if you drive sanely and with skill, it is passable. But idiots with more money than brains have been known to try to tackle the road in their new off road buggy in their inexperienced hands and lead foot,...only to be scraped up out of the bottom of a ravine. I haven't been there in about 3 years, but used to hang out at the yacht club most weekends for a couple years, and saw it on a regular basis.

I used to deliver propane to Crown King, and take that road once a week. Once a month, I’d have to get up to Towers Mountain to fill commercial tanks. Worst job I ever had. I’ll never go up there again.

I made that Senator highway to CK trip last year in my FJ and didn't find it too bad at all, but I do travel on the slow side. I don't think I would tackle it in the snow

Let’s just hope the good citizens of CK have plenty of alcoholic beverages to get them through this weather related catastrophe

little to no maint. on the road, and with the traffic it receives and has over the years from supposed off roaders,
hell i remember when the back way in from pleasant was a day long event just getting there, shovel was required in spring and fall, lol. the off roaders have turned it into a hyway,
progress i guess, and yeah, have seen more carnage in vehicles and sgl rider units in almost 5 decades to fill a book,

used to spend a fair amount of time in the bradshaws, gold panning all along the senator, used to be a awesome place to loose ones self on a hot summer day
