I used to own one, too. But being older, I haven't ever rolled down a mountain.
I made that Senator highway to CK trip last year in my FJ and didn't find it too bad at all, but I do travel on the slow side. I've encountered youngins who've rolled their XJ down the mountain when there's zero mud or ice. Yes, if you drive sanely and with skill, it is passable. But idiots with more money than brains have been known to try to tackle the road in their new off road buggy in their inexperienced hands and lead foot,...only to be scraped up out of the bottom of a ravine. I haven't been there in about 3 years, but used to hang out at the yacht club most weekends for a couple years, and saw it on a regular basis.
