Since I seem to be irritating all the new members I figured .. why change up now. So my daughter lives in PA and its been a rough go. She is fine and has a good job that has been so far unaffected but the riots were close enough to be concerning. So she wrote me this morning
"Just checking in, we made it through the week and finally things seem to be settling. No more violence in Philly and I’m hopeful things will get better. Still gonna chain the door at night but the chaos seems to be passing. Though it does seem like we are headed into a second shut down according to the governor but it is what it is. Hope all is well there as well. "
and my response was
"I am not overly concerned with things going forward with this president or any other. The country has survived some 8 wars, 46 presidents, 2 presidential assassinations and we come out the other side. I was dismayed with the riots and the seemingly non response. That is not the way to elect presidents or change agendas. There are systems in place for that and mob rule will never be good. The mob never includes everyone and the mob doesn't allow for individual thought.
Things should calm down for a bit but the people who rioted and the Antifa's are an odd lot. They grew up probably the most prosperous of any group before them and yet have angst. Oh well cant figure it but I don't think they will lie dormant because instead of struggling for change which is noble and good their position became their identity so .. what are they now and how will they continue to express who they think they have become. Change and revolution doesn't come with a 77 yr old white guy who has been in politics for 47 years. A revolutionary needs a revolution and loyalists need revolutionaries and to many people took on new costumes and personas and I am afraid they wont let them go easily.
But .. things should lay quite for a little bit while supporters of all camps try and decide how they just go back to be Joe and Alice working a job and paying expenses after being political warriors. Dont know how long this lull will last but I am all for it.
Biden almost solely ran on the position that Trump botched Covid. I honestly don't know what any human on the planet is supposed to do about a virus unless of course they are part of a team that is searching for a cure. Every country affected has handled it as best or as poorly as every other depending on who you ask. If there were a secret way to have the virus and its possible effects bypass your country ... well no one has come up with it.
In order for Biden to appear as if he is doing things about Covid that Trump didn't .. I am afraid it will mean to more lock downs, more people losing their jobs and more people losing their homes and families. I am not sure that is a better way to handle it. Unless he has a line to some otherworldly deity who can step in on our behalf .. the virus is going to do what it will until someone comes up with a vaccine and in the end .. in all honesty the loss of a loved one by someone while being horrific happens every day and the numbers of the sick compared to the number of the dieing just doesn't equal the destruction of the economy and young peoples futures.
I know your a fighter so just keep doing what your doing. Nothing lasts forever and eventually the powers that be will tire of using covid as weaponized propaganda and find some other way to scare the populous. In the meantime .. You do you!! "
