I figured I'd start this thread for those of us in the PDRT. I was in 2nd Amendment Sports earlier today and they had 5.56, 9MM, 22 LR and a good selection of powders and primers (except SP/SPM, SR/SRM) in stock. They are out of 380, 45 ACP, 300 BO, and one other caliber that I forgot to write down. Limited selection of bullets and brass.

I was in Murphy's last week and they were pretty bare for primers, powder and some bullets.

The Ace Hardware on Houghton has some stuff in stock as does the Cashbox.

I am in Tucson as well, I was wondering if anyone has a comprehensive list or reloading retailers in town? I Just have a list of what I know, Ultra, Murphy's, 2nd, Ace on Houghton, Sportsmans, cashbox.
I am new to the hobby of reloading and prefer to buy local as much as possible.

Whatever happened to Jensen's Custom Ammo down there? That was my favorite place on the planet back when I was high school.

Jensen's went under when they tried to do business with the Russian mafia about 20+?, years ago. The site changed hands several times and was a place called 2nd Amendment Sports for quite awhile until just recently and changed hands again to some other Cali company (Turner's Outdoorsman). I went in there about 2 weeks ago and it looks pretty much the same. Back when Jensen ran the place it was the best gun shop in Tucson. I remember when it was just a little place back in the 60's, and the "store" was a little old house about 800 sq. ft.

Russian mafia, eh? Eeeesh. It was the 80's when I was going there. Good memories, sorry that it's gone.

A little thread drift here occasioned by mention of the Russian Mafia.

I was hired to partially redesign and program an art display in Harrah's in South Lake Tahoe. It was art done by a famous female Russian artist and all the high mucky mucks were going to see it, including the Governor of Nevada.

While I was in the exhibition room testing my software, the female artist came by and invited me and Mrs. Flash to stay at her house in South Tahoe. We declined as I felt something just wasn't right, but another guy working there and his wife accepted the invitation.

Anyway, met the Governor and some other pretentious aholes and went home. Got a call from the Company that had hired me and they wanted a sit down at their offices. When I got there, they had their lawyer there as well as the CEO and the CFO of the company that hired me.

They wanted to know why I hadn't spent the night at the Russian's house. I told them that the little voice in my head said not to go, that there was something wrong. I asked why they wanted to know and they said the FBI had interviewed them and the guy who stayed yesterday and informed them she was Russian Mafia.

I did teach the guy who stayed not to believe me when I told him how to say "how are you" in Russian. He used it on her and she replied "why would I want to **** myself? Russians pride themselves on their profanity.

The Russian mafia thing was a joke, sort of. I was friends with a guy that worked in the reloading dept. and I was in there one day and he told me he was quitting because the place was going down and the main people they owed money to was Russian arms dealers that didn't have much of a sense of humor about being owed money. It doesn't take much imagination to figure out what type of people they were dealing with.
