back to tea leaves

bad sign ... targetsports is still empty, they do have some 357sig at 1.00 a round but not much else.

I wonder if Underwood ammo can survive as a company. They are still out of everything and they held the line on pricing until they were cleaned out. I like some of the underwood ammo and would hate to see them go but they only had the one niche market and would have to have been well padded for the length of the component shortage.

I have been locating threads from guys who are recreating some of their favorite underwood loads so I am glad I took up rolling my own.

Underwood makes some pretty tasty deviled ham. Never tried their ammo.

Being serious though, if HR8 dies I think demand will immediately fall. Not back to 2019 levels, but pretty sharply.

Damnit Jeff .. I havent had Deviled ham since elementary school .. probably as long for spam too .. remember loving both .... on the shopping list for next time!

Diced Spam mixed in with that boxed mac 'n cheese everyone is hating on is one of my snacks..

Carry on... BTW, I sure wold like to find some tea leaves in the flavor of 30-30 WIN.

I'm getting emails from companies selling ammo around twice a week advising they will have ammo for sale on a certain day within a couple of days. Some give a phone number and say you have to call, some say you have to buy from the website.

I'm also seeing more ammo at my LGS/Range every week so yes, things are coming back.

I always keep a can or two of both of those around. They make Spam singles now too which is nice if you don't want to open a whole can.

I didn't know this would turn into a deep philosophical and angry discussion but I should know that anything other than Boob pix is going to make someone argumentative and angry.

If "pops" in his acura .. (not sure why the car matters not being a car guy) gets up early in the morning and scouts 10 different stores and checks online ads and buys 5 million cases of ammo its none of my business. I wish I had the ambition.

If we are angry because he was only supposed to take as much as we deemed he needed to insure that the supply of a consumable was equally distributed "fairly" among all the people who wanted it .. well I think that is a political, social and economic system that is frowned upon in the Right leaning community and starts with "S". Just sayin?

Sitting on a pallet of ammo is not about the end of days and the ever present threat of civil war. I love to shoot .. some people LOVE to shoot! I probably shoot about 200rds a month which would come out to about 2.5 cases a year. I would shoot more but .. even in best of times .. its an expense I choose to keep control of. Sometimes its more sometimes less.

If someone were sick of the ebb and flow of availability, had the resources, storage room and thought "I want to shoot at this current level for the next 10 years without worrying about who is in office" your talking 24,000 rds.

Now I know guys that go and shoot 100 rds or more a week or did before the latest rush. Some people jeep, others play musical instruments, others gamble and some drink or drug.

Some shoot .. for them 10 years is 48,000 rds. Who am I to tell them how much they can have. I am not sure how that is age related other than perhaps an older person has gotten their sh*t together and can lay out the kind of beans needed to acquire and store that much?

I have maybe 2-3 years worth in components but I am still building my stash. Figure I have about 8 years left on earth .. would like to keep shooting. Dont plan on getting the feels and giving some of it away to someone else in order to fairly distribute the supply.

i'm not angry nor was I speaking about anyone here.

I agree with that. You snooze, you loose. I am pointing out that if people want the supply to catch up they have to chill out. Same thing which happened when the gas line broke and people were freaking out about gas running all over the place to get it.

I have enough of what I feel is good for me and mine. I dont have sour grapes or any of that shit.

The good ole days were from 2016-2019. If you didn't take advantage of "buying it cheap and stacking it deep" it's on you.

My point is people are buying guns now because they are afraid of the government banning them and making them criminals. Instead of doing important thing like creating networks and mutual aid groups, getting others to contact legislators etc, they are just following the rest of the people they see and hoard which is compounding the supply chain further.

I'm pretty much the biggest an-cap dude on this board, I'm so into capitalism I'd make Ayn sneer with envy.

Just typing what other people are thinking.

Hey, Alex - why do you think you only have 8 years left? You aren't that old, broheim, but sometimes you talk like you're in your late 80s.

Hey cubiclerevolt
I'm just guessing but if we are speculating I don't think it's the old timers. Most "shooters," the guys younger and older on this board that are kind of serious about it either in sporting or being prepared to defend yourself against all boarders have thier nest egg firmly in place. Make no mistake .. I have no stats other than the people I know and the boards I participate in.

You just can't add the number of brand new consumers we did and not feel the pain. I complain that I only have a few years supply but I bet at least 80% of this board including lurkers has a year or more shooting stock in the closet.

Seems like a long time ago but it was maybe 6 months maybe when the indoor ranges were wall to wall new gun buyers. Man they reaked of it.

Getting through the door at teds felt like black friday. If ...WHEN ... we get the midterms swung our way things will settle down. I don't think the new buyers are hoarders yet so things will come on line and TO ME already show signs of improving

Whew .. just read this morning that there were 10 million new gun owners added since the rush started and that is only the ones that went through nics.

S&W had a banner year. Lot of new ammo and gear hounds .. its a good thing I guess since they will be reluctant to give up their now exercised rights but ... I dont think manufacturers could have seen or planned for anything like it.

Those Dems sure know how to sell guns and ammo!!

So how many politicians do you think bought up some S&W and Ruger very early on? Hmmmm
