I try not to head out to the range on Saturday but the wife was anxious to get her new Ruger out again so there I was. It was crowded as all hell but we got some fun shooting in.

The wife was killing it with her Ruger SP101 which we picked up maybe a month ago but she was really on with her SR22 which she has owned for years. I was pretty impressed. I shot the ruger Sp101 "ok"

geez its such a little thing and it has such a little grip and SOOOOOOOO long a trigger pull.

But its hers so doesnt matter if I can shoot it great or not. I will stick with my GP.

I brought my Sig229 and my M&PC both in 40 to try some new rounds which I think I love and that went fine but I also brought the S&W 28 just for giggles. No .. I will not be selling that gun like new. Plan on using and enjoying it. Hell I aint getting any younger. Who am I going to save it for.

anyway .. while i know 8 yds is no great distance. That is 50+ rounds with about 1/3 being .357
Fun day at the range .. even on a saturday!

Thanks guys .. Didnt do anything longer than 10 yds yesterday and I only ever shoot revolver DA unsupported but yesterday was mostly a testing day and a day for the wife to get better with her Sp101.

Here is her target with the sr22 .. again not a million miles away at 5.5 yds but .. she had fun. I had just pulled that gun apart and gave it a good clean and oil.

Not bad for a 63 yr old lady who only first touched a gun when she came out here.

8 yards, that's the top end of the "average defensive shooting"
And if you're shooting the revo in DA, you're nearly a regular Claude Werner
"Work with what ya got"

That is excellent shooting for a novice. I started my wife out at that range and gradually moved her back to about 20 yards, but we always finish the day at close range again. It leaves her with a positive feeling about shooting everything we go out.

My nephew took me to C2 on Saturday. Not sure if it was the same range you were at but it was BUSY! Very busy. We had to wait a while in line even tho we had a reservation. We were on the rifle side. We met a very nice Brother/Sister that were shooting there. Overall it was a great day even as crowded as it was.

I have been using Teds for the last few years. If I go during the week its got people but its not so boisterous and I can get all most of my brass but Saturday's!!!

Teds is kind of out of the way so it probably doesnt get the same traffic C2 gets.

I need hearing protection just because of all the people chatter and it seems that the weekend attracts more casual shooters who dont know that they should clean up after themselves and such .. but .. It was still a blast and we stayed cloistered between the walls of our lane.

My nephew gave me some electronic muffs so we could talk. But I ended up striking up a conversation with an old guy who was having a great time with his son and the aforementioned brother/sister. But I probably would have been just as happy turning them off and concentrating on my shooting if I was there by myself.

The brother/sister duo were newbies so the RO was hanging out with them. While they were not doing anything wrong or bad I thought it was great that the RO hung out with them the whole time. She was a little intimidated by the AR-15 they had rented. So my nephew let her shoot his AR in 22LR. She loved that and was much more into shooting after that.

It was just so crowded.

I love that your wife is good with her guns. I don’t think there are enough woman shooters around.

The best thing about a public range is the ego boost from out shooting everybody in sight.

At my local range I keep running into a guy that just puts me to shame. I’m no slouch but this guy can put twice as many rounds down range in a tighter group than I can. Then the last time I went he was there with a friend. I was chatting with the friend and he told me this guy is a competition shooter. So I don’t feel so bad now.

On the plus side, they shared their once fired brass with me.

She is pretty damn good with a revolver too. At 7 yds she will put 30 rounds or so easy into the red rectangle in the middle of silhouette target. I have never measured it but if I guessed I would say its about 8 in tall my 6 inches wide.

She started smiling a bit to much when she shot the 28 the other day so I took it away and put it in the gun rug!!

I would lie if I said it wasnt true and while I wont admit to it .. maybe I glance at the other targets around me :)

Especially if the shooters are dressed up all tacticool or using lasers! You know .. if I looked

It's even more ego boosting if some cops are there doing their qualifications. :D

That's interesting. I have seen many police qualifications at C2 in Snotsdale in the store, but they shoot on a separate range. The average member such as me, never see's them shoot. The Tempe location must have a different range organization the the Snotsdale C2.

You could watch them shoot at Ted's, sometimes even shoot next to them, also at C2 Tactical Tempe you can watch through bulletproof glass.
