Not really a fan boy of anything and there are few humans I might be fans of but .. I can see why some people love these guns!

I had an all Stainless 229 Elite in 9mm back around 15 years ago but it was a lot of gun for that cartridge so I sold it off to a board member.

Within the last year I picked up these two in 40s&w and man I am impressed. They point naturally for me, they are combat accurate and I say that because they both seem to prefer a combat sight picture but the best thing is ... they are completely not finicky.

If you can get it in the mag it seems to load and fire. I have tried at least 6 different configurations of reloads and factory.

I dont shoot 10,000 rounds a year like some of you so my shooting might not be very impressive to you, or impressive at all but here were today's efforts.

Fired 50 rds, my new ammo shortage max per range visit. This was some 180 coated lead and some 165 JHP with some ass. 20 rounds at 15 yds and the last 30 at 25yds. All the head shots are at 25 yds. All unsupported both eyes open and I would say quick follow ups but not fast. Fire, white front sight, fire again. All strings started from DA.

I find I shoot the 229 a touch low and I have to see if its me or the sights ... Im betting me. Anyway .. between this and the new single action 22 .. fun freagin day at the range!!

Those are sweet pistols, and some nice shooting too; I see plenty of people that can't make headshots at 3 yards...practice pays off.

Small world, I was at Ted's yesterday too with my daughter and a buddy. My daughter was pretty much sticking with her AR but wanted to try out my Desert Eagle L5 in .44 Mag...she loved it and had that silly grin that only a cannon like that can deliver.

I like teds... I liked it better when they had regulars behind the counter but everyone is friendly and the facility is clean, well lit and user friendly and now that the crowds have diminished some the parking is great.. Caswells is closer to me but it was always so dark I gave up on it.

Cant believe your girl fired off the DE!!! Good for her!!

My wife, after much cajoling tried the 226. Her regular shooting iron is a 38 and at 63 doesnt care much for recoil but rattled off 6 rounds of 40 and loved it. Never would have thought!!

My daughter was due to come out and visit and I was going to run her to a range but then covid hit. Maybe this spring! I am looking forward to it.

I like Ted's since it's close to my house. I shoot there enough and have done a few transfers there (plus they jailed a can for me) so most of the long term crew at least know my face and are very nice to me and the people I bring in. Glad your wife liked the 226, that is indeed a great piece, especially in .40. My daughter is only 16 and just this year moved up to 9mm so the DE was a bit intimidating, but she went on to shoot a full mag through it...proud papa indeed, lol! Here's hoping your daughter can get out here soon!!
