I don't agree. I believe that Putin will not accept not being able to accomplish his military taking of Ukraine. He will not be seen as weak/incompetent. I believe he will go to extreme and order biological/chemical and possibly nuclear attacks.

If he were rational, yes, he'd pull out. But he ain't rational. So the only thing that will remove Russians from Ukraine is a coup in Russia. And Putin is just rational enough (as well as paranoid and studious of history) that he has been preparing against that his entire political career.

But at 71, he ain't got many years left anyway. He has attacked his own nation's economy and the guys that run it badly enough that they can't let him continue. Russia is run nearly exactly like the Cosa Nostra. When the boss messes with everyone's money, he's gotta sleep with the fishes.
