Public Safety Fee???

Yeah, but heavier vehicles cause more wear than lighter vehicles, so let's make it a weight fee.

Oh, and some states don't charge anything for registration if you're over 65. I think that's why we see a lot of out of state/country plates around here.

FWIW I just got a notification from MVD about a refund of the fee I paid with the 5 year renewal for my truck. I think it was less than what I paid, but I won't complain. Based on what I read here, I thought it was all gone.

I just did a 5 year renewal and the 'safety fee' was only for 2019 and 2020 and the other 3 years didn't have it.
