And since the kids that took the last standardized test in Arizona had only 35% or so who read at grade level and around 33% who did math at grade level, why in the world did we listen to Red For Ed and give them a raise? We should've fired them.

Red for ed is to blame, communist cock sucking teachers. Sorry but if you don't like the pay where you work go the f*** somewhere else and work. Love how teachers feel entitled but if they worked in the real world they would just find another job.

My brother and sister-in-law are retired teachers living with top notch pensions. Lots more income than I have as a lowly retired contractor. I don't feel at all sorry for teachers or any other governmental employees who are set for life when they retire.

I had to up my registration last December 2018 on my truck. Nothing on the bill they sent me about an extra $32. So imagine my surprise when she told me it would be almost double what is on the paperwork.
Went home and looked the law up.... was supposed to go into effect January 2019.
ADOT started early on collecting it.... basta’s!

Does anyone know the breakdown on fees and fines from tickets and arrests? Could not they they gain the needed monies from those venues, and other services such as copies of reports, etc

The main problem is how regressive it is. The registration fee is based on value. This new fee is the same fee for a car worth a hundred dollars or a car worth a hundred thousand dollars. If they really "need" more money they should have just raised the registration fee slightly. Another incredibly stupid move by politicians (the lowest life form on the planet).

Copper Dome dwellers have voted to do away with the fee, sounds as if they found another bucket of cash to dip into.

Did they? Link to news story?

Wonder what they will use to pay for DPS (and in turn, teachers' raises)... ?

I was reading a while back that California voters have passed an initiative to increase taxes to fix the roads.

Four times they've passed it (4) and guess how many times it's gone into the General Fund?

Four (4) times.

We need to dump this. DPS doesn't need this when they're throwing away a bunch of money to buy new guns when they could get the defective ones fixed for free. There's no way a gun manufacturer wouldn't do it for free as it's a design defect.
Yes they say the only way the funds can get diverted into the GF is due to a fiscal emergency. Well guess what, CA is in a continual fiscal emergency. Another reason we left for AZ.

As to fixing the pistols I don't think there is a way to do that without a total redesign and building new pistols. Something FN recognizes since they are even dropping the model from production. DPS went cheap to save a little money and now it is biting them and AZ taxpayers in the ass.

A lawsuit might be the way to recover some of the costs from FN as the pistol is obviously a defective and unsafe design.

This article states the issue was fixed but DPS is transitioning anyway. WTF?

When these agencies have money they need to spend it or they loose it.
They would rather waste it on frivolous spending than give it back.
If they don't then next year they might not get as much.

That's why some of the DPS officers have 2 take home vehicles to help them spike their pensions.

Serious question...

How does having two vehicles spike their pension? They can only log in on duty once.

Very simple. DPS officer gets in marked SUV, does an 8 hour shift. Comes back, takes radios and computer out of marked SUV, puts them in unmarked P/U truck, takes off uniform and put on levis and a T-Shirt, goes off for another 8 hour shift as undercover.

Next day, repeat and so on. With time and a half and double time, double your income for the year and after doing it for 3 years, you now get 50% of double your normal income for retirement instead of 50% of your normal income. So, you get 100% of pay in retirement.

And we, the taxpayers, get to pay for it, both the extra vehicles and the double retirement.

Well they ARE working 16 hours a day so while it does spike their income we are at least getting value from their work. Now if they are frauding the hours or simply sitting in a bar drinking with their buddies or attending their kids after school functions (all while playing at being undercover) then I have issues with it.

They are simply working within the system the taxpayers set up to get maximum benefit out of it. Just like how we would do whatever we can at our job towards the same goal.

Totally agree. Though I wonder if it wouldn't be cheaper to hire new officers.
