Looks like 207 will pass.

It will most likely mean a massive increase in the number of DUI's, and I'm not entirely sure any of the extra revenue will make it to whom it is promised to, but oh well....it was bound to pass eventually.

I would venture to guess that a vast majority of people who want to smoke weed were already smoking weed. Hopefully it frees up the courts some and cuts back on jail costs.

Agreed. Also allows firearm owners in need of medical marijuana who are afraid to get a medical card due to federal law much more freedom to pursue it.

I'm don't partake in it myself, but I'm glad that is will now be an option. I just hope it doesn't lead to increased DUI's, etc.

Get ready for auto insurance to go up.

The big problem is the influx of pot heads from out of state that will flock here. Our homeless population will explode, which was already getting pretty bad (especially around the light rail). Just look at Oregon and CA.

I'm not happy about the liberal gains either, but 207 passing is a good thing. None of the negatives will actually occur. At least on one issue az voted in the name of liberty.

I don’t want the government regulating what someone can ingest even if it is poison like drugs.

If, however, you think that removing any remaining restrictions on this stuff doesn’t lead to bad outcomes, you are deluded. Everywhere it has been legalized, things have gotten worse. The last documentary talked with LE in CA who were in favor of legalization of marijuana. They talked about violence between growers and users has actually gone up, and there are more illegal growers than ever as everyone is trying to avoid the taxes.

And it will continue to be messy until they do something at the federal level. Federal laws actually encourage the local tax evasion and money laundering. The more states that get on board the more pressure it'll put on the feds to do something.

I want to know what morons voted for the income tax increase. Talk about being deluded if people think more than 30 cents on that dollar is ever going to land in a teacher's pocket.

Once it's legal in all 50 states it will cease being a money making operation and become like brewing your own beer: a hobby for dorks.

I hope it finally does!
It’ll keep all the one issue voters home and staying high, the liberals have always used this issue in every major election as a draw for bringing out fringe voters that would vote their way.

There is a lot of truth to this. My issue is that as a business regulated under the DOT(FAA Repair Station) Marijuana is still a federally regulated controlled substance. All employees are subject to Pre-employment and random DOT drug testing. I was already having a hard time finding new employees that do not smoke Marijuana, this will make it worse. Until the feds deal with this it will continue to be an issue.

Gunslinger is spot on. The first increment was the medical marijuana issue. That was voted on several times. Then the recreational that was voted down in the past makes the dems happy because they can do it repeatedly. Now they can't.

The Dems will have a next new thing to get non voters out to vote. It will be some "Booogy Man" scare everybody issue or some feel good issue that gets out the Idiot vote

Your more enterprising partakers generally know how to cheat on a drug test.

I am aware of this except we have applicants either fail the test or fail to show up for the test on a regular basis because they fear they will fail. We have even had a failure for Cocaine which only stays in the system 2-3 days. So most are not that enterprising....... If they pass they pass, now whether there prepped to cheat the surprise random is another issue. Every failed test costs me 60.00, a no show counts as a fail but no cost to me. Most druggies are not that smart, hence them being druggies. A failure of a FAA/DOT test follows you forward as well. Possibly preventing you from getting another job in the industry. So one night at a party smoking a joint could impact the rest of your life in the FAA world. That includes mechanics, inspectors, pilots, anyone with a safety sensitive job. FAA has a zero tolerance policy in most cases. A failure of a random is mandatory dismissal in many cases. Hence the issue with the Medical and now this law from this perspective. As i said the feds need to address this. There also is no quantitative measurement of impairment so DUI is a tentative thing. Most people that use Marijuana think that they are fine to drive.

Sounds like some are still drinking the Refer Madness kool-aid and all the bullshit myths being tossed around here just like how DPS said the highways would be covered in blood by raising the speed limit to 75mph and how the streets would be covered in blood now that you don't need a permit to carry CCW.
Nothing will change.
People who wanted to smoke weed have already been doing it for years and years, even before medical cards became available. This is a win for the state and for the people of Arizona.

I don't partake and won't. It's just not for me.
I don't have anything against it and am very happy my kids don't use it.

Oh, but EVERYONE will be forced to partake as you and your kids inhale the Weed Cloud hanging around the entrance of every store now, because they will tell you they have the RIGHT to toke anywhere they damn well please. Take the bus? Enjoy the skunk smell of weed as it fills the air. Dope smokers, welcome to Arizona, just put your tent anywhere on the sidewalks or in our parks and live there permanently. Cali Lite.
