it may be simple assault but IMO it is not at the level of lethal -fearing for your life... I don't know Colorado laws but he (the shooter) could have retreated and avoided the conflict. From what I have read, although Colorado doesn't have a duty-to-retreat law, their stand-your-ground law only applies to dwellings, so the shooting was not justified IMO.

I'm embarrassed every time I watch these protest and counter protest people screaming at each other. We should give it a purge vibe and make protests a law free zone and let them sort it out. Whatever clever homemade poster board slogans are left flying when the dust settles is publicly acknowledged as the winner of the protest, which has no bearing whatsoever on the issue itself.
