You don't need a PP account to buy on eBay.

There are sellers on Ebay that only accept PayPal

Then I'm curious. Have you ever tried to complete a transaction with any of those sellers by just using a credit card? I've done it many times, but I don't know what sellers you've come across.

It said right in the payment window that he only accepted PayPal, I wanted his stuff so I used PayPal. I have also used PayPal for small jobs, like making a key to an antique lock in the past as well but I wouldn't leave more money with them than I can afford to lose

Paypal, Venmo, and all other banking stuff are all the same. The banks own us one way or another. This is why "they" have long wanted us to become "cashless", but it has not yet happened yet. Once we don't own cash and use digital currency, we can be easily shut down, controlled, or manipulated. With the advent of crypto which was supposed to be anti-bank, "they" have all jumped in. Crypto currency was supposed to be "decentralized"... but it got infiltrated.

To the op, how about asking for a check or a bank draft, or the postal thing I forgot what it's called. That's what I did when I sold stuff that needs to be mailed. "Older" folks actually prefer sending checks like rimfire central - anyone ever sold stuff there?

Try buying ammo or a gun from a dealer with PayPal, won't happen.

I pay for nearly everything with Paypal. Haven't been turned down yet.

If you use Active Junky you will get 2% back on your purchases through various outdoor type vendors. PSA being on of them. Active Junky pays you this THROUGH PayPal.
