Youtube is a wonderful thing. I found a video of taking the trigger apart. It's an entire assembly I need. The bolt/cylinder catch.

Yeah, lots of online sources. I was hoping to find something local to the Phoenix valley.

Did you contact S&W ? That's a very common part used for many years and they may just send you one.
Worth the price of a phone call.

I did not even think about it. A friend suggested the same thing, but not until after I ordered one. Live and learn I suppose. But at the same time, everything I saw said to have a "competent smith" install the part. He said he sent an old Ruger in and they repaired it free of charge and even paid shipping and FFL fees. Took 4 weeks, but still.

Maybe if another part breaks in the future I will.

I'm curious as to why you need one. In that one pic you posted, it looks like it was not threaded to accept the thumbpiece retaining screw(?)

In any case, your replacement is quite likely to need no fitting at all. If it does, it shouldn't be too much trouble.

Looked to me like the screw was sheared and left half itself in the hole. If so I would just extract the broken screw and replace the screw.

That’s a threaded stud on the bar that a cap screw thhreads on to...snapped off. Weak point if dropped and hits right(wrong).
Easy to replace... usually not much fitting req’d but will affect cylinder release if not right.

OMG, I can't believe I missed that one. You're right. The last one I had apart was a pre-war K-frame that did it old-school. Still stuck in my brain..

was21 is correct. It is a stud with screw cap. I think it was starting to break while I was at the range. The more rounds I fired, the harder it was to push forward and harder to open the cylinder.

I just checked shipping and it is scheduled to arrive on Saturday.

LMK if you have any problems fitting it..... and don’t lose the spring and plunger.
